No More Wishing

Hi everyone!  Sorry for the kooky posting schedule.  The husband and daughters are home this week, so we’re kinda in vacation mode!  I’ve been pretty much lounging around in my pj’s all day and tinkering with stuff in the house.  I’ve also been thinking.  Yes, that is scary ;)   I’ve been thinking about the new year and what goals I would like to set for myself.  I normally don’t do the resolution thing, but I think goal-setting is beneficial and I want to set a few for myself to accomplish this year.  I often “think” about goals, however, I don’t write them down.   But as the saying goes, a goal not written is only a wish.  I’m tired of wishing.  I ready for doing.  So, I am stating (in writing!) my goals for 2010:

  1. Work on causes behind my emotional and mindless eating.  I want to work on recognizing when it happens, why it happens and bring forth changes to reverse the behavior.
  2. Reach my goal weight.  I know, another year of “weight loss goals”, but I’m ready to get to my goal.  I need to get to my goal.  I need to prove to myself that I can do it.  These last 10 or so pounds have been looming over me for a year now.  On the bright side, I can look at it as maintaining which is wonderful.  But, I’m just not quite “there”, yet.  And I really want to be :)
  3. Run another 5K race.  Well, lordy knows I need a re-do on that! LOL!
  4. Incorporate more strength training.  I’m already doing this a couple days a week, but I want to get a decent and regular routine together to really target on toning and firming up the j-e-ll-o :)

How about you guys?  Are you ready for some doingHave you thought about your goals for the new year?  Do you write them down?

I have just been thinking about the same thing myself today. I don’t do resolutions, but I have been thinking about things I want to incorporate into my life in the coming year, beyond the “goal” of weight loss. It seems that I have made this such a priority for the last 2 years that other areas of my life are neglecting attention as a result. I am not giving it up, but rather adding to the back pack, so to speak.

I like that you are writing down your goals. I like the first one because I can really relate to it. I’ve actually been afraid to go there. Who knows what I might unearth!

I will definitely be writing down goals on my blog. January 1!

Thanks for your support today Marisa. I needed that. I did it up good and it’s over. LOL! Right on the money as usual. ♥

We all have been there, T! Especially me! We gotta just dust ourselves off and move on. No more beating ourselves up!

i am definitely a write my goals down kinda person, but then i always forget where i leave those lists. then i find them a few years later and realize i’ve either accompilshed them, or don’t care about them anymore and that’s kinda a bittersweet feeling.

i didn’t know you were in the philly area! next time i’m visiting we’ll have to do a meetup.

Yes, I think realistic goals are very helpful. I’m going to write down my 2010 goals in the next few days. Great goals! Enjoy your family being home! :)

Must be the time of year cause i have also been thinking of goals, I even told the kids to think of some so we can have some individual ones and some family ones – we are going to discuss them and write them down Thursday evening.
Happy New Year :)

I feel ya on the pajama lounging. Today I finally put on clothes and lounged in them. Why did I even bother to get dressed?

Your goals look manageable. I briefly blogged about your #1 goal the other day. I really need to get a handle on the emotional eating thing too.

I’m setting smaller goals this year that will eventually lead to achieving my larger goals (well, that’s the theory anyway!)

And, yes…I write them down! In fact, I’m busting out my new fitbook today and am going to do some goal setting, training planning, and nutrition journaling.

Here’s to a HEALTHY 2010!

I was just thinking of doing the same thing this year, but what I am going to do, is make a poster board and decorate it, and put pictures up and really stay focused on my plan.

Have you ever read “The Secret” (she was on Oprah a few years ago). If you imagine it, and think about it, your half way there!

I think those are great and attainable goals too!

I agree, Jenn! I have my “vision board” in the works, too!
