A Cold Challenge

Hi guys!  Hope everyone’s weekend is going well :)

It is bitter cold here!

freezing(source)

Brrrrrrrrrr!

I had to get a move on this morning.  Little daughter had a church ceremony at 10:30, so it was up, shower, get everyone dressed and have a quick breakfast.  I wasn’t in the mood for a traditional breakfast.  I rummaged around the fridge and decided on a taco tortilla roll-up using leftover taco-seasoned ground turkey breast, 2 % cheese and a small La Tortilla Factory tortilla…

Delish!

Even in a hurry, I always make time for the press…

Isn’t Fletcher cute? :)

We got home from church just in time for lunch.  This cold weather (17 degrees!) definitely called for something warm and comforting to eat.  I chose this Progresso Vegetable Classics French Onion soup from the pantry…

But, what is French Onion Soup without the cheesy bread topper, right?  I made a mock version by toasting an Arnold Sandwich Thin, then topping it with a slice of lowfat Swiss cheese and running it under the toaster oven broiler.  It was perfect for my big bowl of soup…

A little while later, I fixed up a yogurt bowl

Those Yogi Granola Crisps rock!

It was a nice relaxing afternoon of watching mindless TV (Real Housewives and Worst Cooks In America) and looking out the window at SNOW!!!  UGH!

I kept the relax theme for dinner.  I decided on pancakes, bacon and sliced apples.  Normally, I don’t do pancakes because I find they are not filling enough, but I chose to indulge in them this time.  Instead of syrup, I topped my pancakes with PB2 drizzle.  YUM!

Isn’t that bacon weird??  Tasted better than it looks :)

I was a total slug in the exercise department.  Translation:  NONE.  It’s been 2 days of NONE.  So unlike me, but I feel like I’m in an exercise funk.  Not in the mood to run, not in the mood for the gym, not in the mood for sweating or soreness.  I need to snap out of it and find something new and exciting.  I have a few ideas.  One thing is a challenge!  Mary at Fit This Girl is doing a Legs Do It Challenge for the month of February.  My lower half could definitely use the work!

Total for the day – 23 POINTS

ONE GOOD THING:  I am so thankful for a warm house.

Have a great day, everyone!

Coffee + Tea In The House

Thanks for celebrating my weigh-in with me!  You all brought up so many good points about appreciating any loss.  I think deep inside I know all of those things, too.  Sometimes, it is hard to let go of that dieting mentality of wanting to see bigger numbers on the scale.  My expectations for a 2 week loss were to see a bigger loss, but I have to celebrate any dip in the scale.  It’s going the right direction and the realization is that no matter what the scale does, I’m not gonna change what I’m doing.  I’m living this lifestyle of health and fitness for my lifetime:)

I started off my day with another Mock Egg McMuffin (extra egg whites and no ham this time)…

IMG_3266

and a cup of Pumpkin Spice in the press (for Kelly) :)

After breakfast, I was a woman on a mission.  Sadly, my house has turned into a pig sty under my nose.  Things are everywhere, clutter is accumulating, dust is forming and laundry…well, yeah it magically reproduces in the dryer.  I was determined to straighten this joint up before the day end.  The morning was really productive and I knocked out most of it by lunch time.  Thank goodness my house isn’t that big!

Lunch was a wrap made with turkey, Black Bean Dip, lettuce and roasted peppers in a Light Flatout Bread

IMG_3274

I heated up some Tabatchnick Minestrone Soup to go with it.  I’ve talked about these on the blog before, but it’s been a while, so I thought I’d show them again…

IMG_3270

I find these in the frozen section of my supermarket.  They are in individual pouches and microwave up in a few minutes.  They taste great and the nutrition facts are very reasonable (especially the sodium)…

IMG_3271

With some carrots on the side, this made for a tasty and filling lunch…

IMG_3276

I finished up the rest of the laundry the remainder of the afternoon, then fixed up a snack.  At first, I thought I was going to eat this…

IMG_3281

I’ve never tried this flavor, but after looking at the nutrition facts, I decided it was a little too calorie dense for me. This bar was 5 POINTS and even if I ate half, it would be 3 POINTS.  I knew I could find a more filling snack for that amount of POINTS, so I just took a nibble to taste (not my favorite flavor :( )…

IMG_3288

and settled on Mary’s Gone Crackers

IMG_3289

with some PB2 for dipping …

IMG_3291

and a cup of Numi Rooibos tea

IMG_3290

Those crackers are great!  They are a vegan cracker made of organic whole grain brown rice, organic quinoa , organic flax seeds and organic brown sesame seeds.  I loved the flavor and the crunch.  It’s a good chip alternative!

Dinner was Trader Joe’s Chicken Gyoza Potstickers with Stir Fry Veggies.  This is one of my new favorites.  Quick and easy from the freezer…

IMG_3295

I ended the night with another cup of coffee!  This time, it was decaf Christmas Blend

IMG_2685

Total :  22 POINTS

ONE GOOD THING:  I realized that if I eat a bigger lunch and a decent snack, I can get away with a lighter dinner and not feel hungry afterward.  Since the afternoon is my worst munchie time, I think I’ll try to eat more during the day and have dinner be the smaller meal to see if it gets me through those rough afternoon times when I want to oversnack.

Have a great day, everyone!

What is your biggest meal of the day?

Celebrate The Scale

I decided to get on the scale this morning.  I have to admit, I was very apprehensive.  I wasn’t sure what to expect after this past week of carbing it up.  But, I decided  it is what it is and it was time to get on and see what the scale wanted to tell me after 2 weeks of Hammer Time

169.8

A 1.2 pound loss.  I felt a big huffy sigh coming on, but remembered one of the rules I had set up for myself when I started back on this path to goal

6.  I will celebrate EVERY LOSS on the scale, no matter how small.

Hmmm…celebrate.  Okay, what did that mean?  Jumping up and down and “whoooo hoooing” it?  Did a 1.2 pound loss deserve such fanfare?  I sure didn’t feel a whole lot of whoo hoo.  So, I looked to Merriam- Webster to help me define what celebrate means…

1 : to perform (a sacrament or solemn ceremony) publicly and with appropriate rites
2 a : to honor (as a holiday) especially by solemn ceremonies or by refraining from ordinary business b : to mark (as an anniversary) by festivities or other deviation from routine
3 : to hold up or play up for public notice <her poetry celebrates the glory of nature

Although I’d love to give you all a day off from work for Marisa’s 1.2 Pound Loss Day, I don’t think going national is necessary or worthwhile ;)

But, I am going to turn my oncoming frown upside down and take the opportunity to be positive about the loss and “play up for public notice”.  A loss is a loss and I’m happy, see? :D   Any loss deserves a “Happy Dance” Celebration, don’t you think?

I’m off to get my groove on with Percy.

Have a great day, everyone!

p.s.  If you haven’t checked out MizFit’s day with Ellen, head on over.  It’s a MUST SEE!

p.s.s.  Thank you to the new subscribers who got me to 670!  I was hanging out at 666 subscribers for a while… CREEPY!
