Beanilious
I’ve been coming up with some pretty good words, huh?!
The weather has been great in my neck of the woods. It was perfect weather for a run, but big daughter had an early basketball game, so we had to get moving. Thankfully, my breakfast sammie only took 2 minutes to make…

The press takes a bit longer, but is so worth it! I treated myself to some flavored creamer…yum…
The game was exciting as usual! No win today, but they did try hard to bring it toward the end of the game
When we got home, I fixed the first of my beanilicious meals for the day. I have had chick peas on the brain (okay, no “pea brain” comments) since seeing this recipe on Ventures With Veggies. How good does that look?! I changed up the recipe a tiny bit, mainly with the addition of more veggies and fresh dill.
CHICKPEA SALAD
- 1 (15 oz.) can chick peas, drained and rinsed well
- 1 cup diced English cucumber
- 1/2 cup shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 tbsp. Kraft reduced fat mayo with olive oil
- 2 tsp. dijon mustard
- 1 tsp. white vinegar
- 1 small clove garlic, finely minced
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 tbsp. fresh dill, chopped
Serves 4

I served mine in a Weight Watchers whole wheat pita with a Fuji on the side…

This was so, so good! The husband and my FIL ended up eating almost the rest!
After digesting and watching a movie with the daughters, we headed outside to soak in the sun. Little daughter and I did 20 minutes of trampolining and stretching. Yay for random exercise
Good thing I got some cuz I ended up coming in and munching. This…

is a Sin, Dawg! I ate a piece x 2. And maybe a little nibble more. At least it’s healthy! But, not quite worth the 12 POINTS that I ate of it! No worries, that is what the 35 Weekly Allowance POINTS are for, right? Something that I’m not proud to say is that I threw the rest of that bread away. My family members would not eat it (too healthy!) and I find it too tempting to keep. I feel badly about it, but I know I will feel worse if I keep digging into it
I’m trying hard to use up the leftovers hanging around in the fridge and freezer. Unfortunately, I’m usually the only one in the house that will eat them. I put together an interesting dinner for myself using leftover barbeque baked tofu, Amy’s Black Bean Chili and a topping of Cabot’s 75% reduced fat cheddar …
It was very tasty and filling! I paired it with a small spinach and tomato salad…
Then, there was another venture over to the dark side…

At least, I tracked and measured
GTG – Total: 22 POINTS
WAP used: 12
So, not the best eating day as far as listening to my body is concerned. I wasn’t hungry for the snacks that I ate and I definitely overdid it with the cinnamon bread. Since I tracked and journaled my food, I feel okay with it because I haven’t gone outside of my given POINTS for the week. In that respect, going back to counting POINTS and journaling my food has been helpful. Otherwise, I may have thought that I had completely blown it and that could have set off a bunch of negative feelings resulting in the downward overeating spiral. But, I ate, I acknowledged and now, I’m moving on
Gonna study my flashcards now. See ya tomorrow!
Have a great day, everyone!
Have you ever thrown away food because it was too tempting? Do you feel guilty about it or empowered for helping yourself?

There must be a bean thing in the air – I have been seeking out different bean recipes myself this week and I am finding I can be very attracted to hummus in so many varieties !
Have I thrown away food because it was too tempting – Yes ! How ever if it is somethign that we are given in an unopened , factory sealed package ( like boxes of chocolates) I gift either one of the ongoing food drives at the churches my hubby serves at with it or our apartment complex management staff. Hard working maintenance men can eat all of those goodies without any problem ( they burn off the calories in activity) . Now if I could spend my days moving refrigerators, shoveling snow, cleaning hallways and doing construction, I think I could eat it freely !
I am ALWAYS tempted to throw food away. I make those dreaded last minute hungry/craving food purchases, I have my bite/taste, then the rest is left to sit there. If it’s in my house I’ll eat it… I used to feel guilty about throwing food out, but like you said, I would feel even more guilt if I continue on bad trends and overeat the rest of the food.
However, I have gotten in good (for me) habits and I will now bring the food into work with me and leave it in the kitchen. That way others can enjoy the treats, and I don’t have to feel guilty about throwing perfectly good food out.
Your pita sandwich filling looks good and refreshing.
Yes, I have been known to throw away food that is too tempting. I would rather it go to waste than to my “wasit!”
Great job on tracking your food and points today and not feeling guilty about what you ate. That is progress!
Love your lunch AND dinner! I think if I could come eat with another blogger you would win hands down!
Yeah I’d throw that bread away too- I feel bad for doing stuff like that but if I can’t get ride of it by passing it on to friends or family I have to toss it to get it out of my hands! lol
The using of weekly points- I save mine for the weekend (Mostly Sunday) That is what they are used for and then we move on- No worries on going to the DARK SIDE. You track and that is what matters!
I give away food that is too tempting, or I have my husband hide it. Occasionally I will throw out food, but more often my husband will eat if for me LOL.
Yes, you do come up with some great words… love the title
I always throw away food… especially when I start bingeing on it. I fell more guilty that I can’t have self control.
FroYo, Half Baked style?! That is the dark side indeed… I am a little tempted to run, not walk, to my nearest grocery store and hunt down that carton of deliciousness! (At least if I run, I’ll burn off some of the calories, right?)
I try not to buy things that are treats, but I do slip up, or am given treats. The problem is, I don’t eat them like treats (once a week)–I’ll eat them until they’re gone! (Example: potato chips. I can’t stop at one serving to save my life.) Like Diane, I try to find homes for the unopened packages–the staff lounge is always a good choice. Sometimes, I’ll throw them away if they’re opened, but usually I’ll try and portion it out until they’re gone, and then learn from my mistakes (no more Costco sized bags of Kettle chips when I know I’m going to be the only one eating them!)
I’ve definitely thrown away tempting foods before or at least I will bring them into work. I feel bad about throwing it away but do I really need to eat a 1 lb box of toffee by myself??? Nope.
LOVE that egg sandwich BTW – it looks so tempting. In the good way.
I am 100% making that salad tonight!
I totally know where you are coming from. There are days that just go over points. Way to keep tracking!
I have thrown away food and I hate doing it, so I try not to bring it into my house. It is hard because the hubby buys stuff and brings it in, so I put it away in the pantry where I don’t have to see it all the time. I’ve been on WW so long though, so he has gotten better.
I definitely throw tempting food away. Or give it to Chuck.
That ice cream looks dangerous!!! Yum!
you know how i like made up words! you can basically ass “alicious” to anything and it turns out incredible. that stuffed pita looks like it would rock my taste buds!
HALF BAKED IS MY FAV!!!!!!!!!!!!! i mite have to buy that for a treat…didn’t know there was a lighter version!
And i haven’t thrown food out before…but i did take it to the break room at work. so i guess that was worse…i have my extra calories to somone else!
lol
Hello! Love your blog! I count points too! Your breakfast looks so good!
OOOOOH the Ben and Jerry’s get’s me all the time!! Gotta love the FroYo!! I can’t buy it often though, b/c I will overeat every time!!
oh man, i wish i could throw away things because they’re too tempting…often i eat it all so there’s no more tempting…haha.
I like your heart bowl!
EVERY bit of that looks delicious, wow!
I’ve thrown away tempting stuff before, I always feel silly after I do b/c I lack the willpower to be able to keep in around, but I know that if it was there I’d eat the whole thing ASAP. I’m still not the best at that whole moderation thing.
thats my favorite ben & jerrys! i have tossed food on rare occasion. usually i feel too guilty but sometimes i will throw something out if i know i will be eating it …most likely in one serving, or at midnight!!!
I got my bean jones on today, too! Made chipotle bean burritos for dinner – muy bien!
And yes – I’ve thrown food away that I cannot control myself around. Usually it’s cookies. I don’t feel guilty at all – I feel like it’s a victory for me! Better than eating the whole package. Nowadays I know better than to buy that stuff, so usually it gets into my house via my husband or my parents.

That is exactly what those extra points are for! Man those points come in handy on those days when I lose my mind and go overboard.
I agree with you about tracking. For a while I haphazardly tracked my food intake. But I realized that I have no way of knowing what foods I ate on good loss weeks and what foods I ate on gain weeks. If I needed help from our leader I wouldn’t have any information to provide as far as what I was eating; so how would she be able to help me. I got an iTouch for Christmas and it has made a difference in my tracking. I am way more consistent with my tracking now. As always, your food looks sublime.
[...] But, I did get the grocery shopping done and make a super yummy chick-pea salad found at Loser for Life. This is a seriously fantastic salad! I had it in a pita. [...]
