Carby New Year!
Happy New Year!!!!! Wow, it’s here – 2010! I have been so excited to start this new year. I know it sounds weird, but I love even- numbered years! Don’t ask me why! Just a weird thing!
New Year’s Eve started off with a late morning (slept in until 8:00 !), then a little strength training and finally some breakfast…peach Chobani yogurt topped with Pumpkin Spice Granola…
I had a few errands to run in the bitter cold. Seems like I haven’t been out of the house in days! Right, I don’t think I have! I tend to want to hibernate and lounge around in my pj’s when it’s cold outside!
When I got back, I cuddled up with the husband and daughters to watch a movie. While I relaxed, I had another Chobani – pomegranate flavor is fantastic! I topped it with a bit more granola and called it lunch…
I tried to keep the eats healthy and light since I knew I was gonna live it up at our NYE family party. And live it up, I did! I brought a healthy salad of mixed greens, feta, sliced almonds and dried cranberries with a white balsamic vinaigrette to our cousins’ house. I did have some of that, but look at the rest of my plate…
Carbolicious city!!!! Mac n’ cheese and Italian hoagies?! I was all over it! In my own futile defense, I did leave some of the pasta on my plate
Only to make room for this…. x 3 …
Dark chocolate covered pretzels should be outlawed or banished from the universe.
I tried to burn off some calories with a mean game of Skip Bo with my MIL and Aunt. They are cardsharks. They may be older and a little more fragile, but they take no prisoners in card games…
They beat the pants off of me that I was busting out of anyway
Finally, the countdown…
We all hugged, kissed and called our loved ones that weren’t with us. It was a fun and relaxing night!
Hope you all had a wonderful start to your new year! I am looking forward to this one and all the fantastic things that life has in store! Cheers!!!
ONE GOOD THING: I managed to eat a little lighter during the day… to make room for HOAGIES and chocolate covered pretzels!!!!!

Sounds like you had a great time at NYE! I had Chinese food up the wa-zoo…. but I ended up not eating everything that was on my plate, I was in shock. I’ve been doing WW for 2.5 months and I am noticing that I am paying attention to my hunger signals more… good luck in 2010!
I totally agree with you about chocolate-covered pretzels.. actually make that any-sweet-covered pretzels, definitely a weakness and way harder to eat “just one” than potato chips :p And I used to love Skip-Bo, I haven’t thought of that game in ages! Happy New Year!
Sound like a fabulous NYE!!!! I am drooling at the pretzel. Yum!!!
I have some pomegranate yogurt in the fridge! I cannot wait to try it!
Happy New Year!!
I must find some pomegranate greek yogurt! I’ve made my own. Sorta. But I’m sure chobani makes it better!
It sounds like your 2010 is off to a delicious start!
Happy New Year ! Your gathering reminds me of my childhood. We would gather at my grandparents with all my great aunts and uncles, cousins, great grand parents and have a ball. My gram was one of 7 kids and my gramp was one of 16 kids, so it was a wonderful house full. There would be food , my one great uncle would bring his banjo and his wife would bring her accordion and we would sing the night away. They have all passed, bt I think they try to pay a visit on New Years Ever just go get in one more verse of Sweet Georgia Brown. Sorry you got a carb attack , but you had a wonderful time with the family and the memories will last longer than the calories !
I have to admit, that mac and cheese looks tres yum! Carbtastic!
Sounds like you had a fun NYE!!! And carbs are just sooo good…

I did try that chobani greek yogurt (the pomagranite kind) and it was very good. Kinda high in points since I still try and count them but still makes a good breakfast!
If you read my blog you will see I am addicted to pomagranite – looovveee it!! I will need to try that yogurt, I love the kroger peach and pom, blackberries and pom and strawberry and pom.

I’ll start that petition to outlaw chocolate covered pretzels.
