Goal Check!
Hey guys! It’s been a week; how’s everyone making out with their New Year’s goals so far? Still feeling stoked? I’m am still feeling good about the goals I set for this year. I keep reminding myself that this will be the year that I stop wishing and start doing! Let’s keep our momentum going…
Breakfast started out with…you know it, Chocolate Cranberry Chia Muffin Top! Yes, it’s true- I am chia obsessed now. I individually wrapped them and popped them in the freezer the other night. Now, I have an easy grab and go breakfast! Just nuked it for about 30 seconds and it was good to go. Well, I had to embellish it with a little homemade almond butter first…
I headed off to the gym for a 40 minute treadmill run. I’m really jonesing to run outside but, I can’t brave the 25 degree-with-wind weather. Wussy! I fit in a 20 minute back and shoulders session on the circuit weights, too. That was hurtin’!
At home, I made some coffee in the french press and did a little studying of my flashcards…
Gotta get it in my brain!
Lunch was a leftover crabcake on Pepperidge Farm Deli Flat with lettuce mix and wasabi sauce…mmm…
and a ginormous bowl of strawberries and pineapple…
Can you tell, I’m wishing for summer?
I was in the mood to snack a bit this afternoon. I noshed on a string cheese and reduced-fat Wheat Thins (x2-boo)…
And dinner was a carbolicious feast of Ronzoni Smart Taste Rotini pasta and every leftover bean and veggie I had in the fridge!
So good!
Okay, so I’m still tooling around trying to update my Recipes Page and actually am enjoying looking back through some of my old posts! That is another great thing about blogging your day – it’s kind of like a visual diary
Seems at least my pictures have gotten a little bit better! Here’s one from the first month I started in November 2008…
Stinky, right? But, a sign of progress that I’ve made (in many aspects) along the way. I hope PROGRESS is the word that will symbolize this year to come, too…
Have a great one!
What’s one thing that you have gotten better at over the past year?

I’m chia obsessed right now too! You should really try chia pudding, I just posted about it here: http://fitgirlinprogress.blogspot.com/2010/01/ch-ch-ch-ch-chia.html
Seriously, it will change breakfast for you forever!
Way to go on your goals! You are very motivating! I don’t make New Year’s goals, I just make them when it’s necessary. But so far, so good. I am trying to eat better and lose weight. What have I gotten better at over the last year… maintaining my home. Keeping it clean. Still a lot of room for improvement, though!
P.S. I like your goal cards!
Hmmm… great question! One thing I’ve gotten better at… forgiving myself and showing the same compassion to myself that I show to others. 2010 is gonna be fricken-fan-tastic! Thanks for asking
awww almond butter
lol
I can’t find that ronzoni smart taste around me anymore-it’s disappearing from stores around here? humm
Your breakfast cookie looks SO good!
By the way, I liked your goal cards too and thought I’d share some that I’ve created that anyone can download for free. http://ahealthykitchen.com/inspiration/free-downloads/
Those chia muffin tops are quite intriguing. I might have to test them out myself. And that crabcake looks outstanding!
I’m feeling so positive about this year and my goals. For a while I as floundering without any real health goals. Now that I have them, finding motivation is so easy.
Also: I hear you on the cold. It’s BITTER out there. I’m going to try to brave it on my bicycle this weekend, however.
I want that crabcake!!
I love your flashcards! Such a great idea!
I’ve learned to take better pictures over the last few months too. But I’m still looking for a new camera….
Okay, now that I’ve seen that muffin top up close I am DEFINITELY making it!
Hmmm, what did I get better at this year? I think I developed more patience. Out of necessity. And honestly, I think that is about it. Not exactly a stellar year for improvement.
taking pictures of food
I do something similar to the flashcard thing that you do. I write notes to myself when I’m motivated (like after a run) and leave them around the house. Like on my computer monitor, tell myself to run or workout before I start surfing. It works great for me.
2010 still on track
Steve
Wow, you look awesome. Your food looks awesome. I want to come to your house and eat! I’ve recommitted to losing weight and getting healthier. Started running in May of 2009 and have found a love for the sport! I’ve gotten better and exercising consistently and respecting my body! Christina@http://www.mommaof3ontherun.blogspot.com/
I thought your muffin was a burger at first and was very intrigued that you put almond butter on it…
Mmmm…those muffin tops look awesome! I also really love those flashcards– what a great idea! I might have to make some for myself
You are so cute with your flash cards! I am rocking the water. Once I start it just becomes a habit and not such a chore.
the flash card thing has got to be one of the most clever ideas i’ve seen!
love it!
Wow what a difference time has done to your blog! Your pictures are professional now! Love your eats for today, you are a wonderwoman with food!
I have been eating a lot of summer fruit too!
