Rockin’ The Mom Jeans
I started my day with this guy…
Wanna go for a walk?
Translation: I’m in!
Rocky and I went for a nice hour long walk. Actually, it wasn’t nice for me until he got tired of yanking and pulling me down the trail. But, it was great to be out in the gorgeous weather! I forgot how much I enjoy just going for a leisurely walk sometimes.
When I got home, I fixed up a big yogurt bowl…
- 1 cup plain nonfat Chobani greek yogurt
- 3 drops liquid NuStevia vanilla
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1/4 cup Kashi Go Crisp Cereal
and a cup of french press…
Then, I set out for the daunting task of jeans shopping. I haven’t bought a new pair of jeans in a year and a half. The couple pairs that I have still fit, but one is kinda dated. Like Mom Jeans. Yeah, you remember those…

Bad. very bad.
So, off I went. I decided to hit up Old Navy because they are always advertising and have brainwashed me to come to their store. I went in, picked up a couple of pairs of non- Mom Jeans in “my size” and headed to the dressing room.
I won’t get into the histrionics that ensued, but suffice it to say, trying on jeans gives me pouty boo-boo lip…
Jeans no fitty…ass too biggy
Back to the Mom Jeans…
(note: the sunglasses were necessary due to the fact that I burned my retinas while trying on jeans. Partly due to my thighs, partly due to the color on the dressing room walls ;P )
Hey, if mom jeans were good enough for Jessica, they are good enough for me
I went home and cried my eyes out and dove into a bowl of Cheetos made myself a healthy lunch cuz lord knows this girl has work to do.
A bowl of Indian Spiced Chickpea and Fire Roasted Tomato Soup with a dollop of yogurt…
and a side of hummus and carrots…
Later in the afternoon, my parents and Gram came to prepare for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities. Yes, we are Italian. Yes, we use every holiday as a reason to eat mass quantities of food.
I sat around and watched the whirlwind in the kitchen. My Mom and Gram are experts in the kitchen and worked their magic to whip up an amazing spread…
Boiled Ham…
Potatoes and cabbage…
Cheesy potato gratin…
Whole wheat soda bread…
Farfalle pasta with spinach pesto and roasted mushrooms…
and a big bowl of broccoli with evoo and garlic (unpictured).
My plate ‘o green…
and bites of bread (x 2)with spray butter…obviously…
No wonder ass too biggy and jeans no fitty :/
Have a great day, everyone!
What did you do for St. Patrick’s Day?

The pesto pasta looks absolutely mouth watering !!!I am Irish ( as well as French, German, Russian and Scottish) and every year we have Corned beef and cabbage. This year I made corned beef and roast veggies- we really liked it better !
Mom jeans- I have not bought an actual pair of jeans in about 20 years, and I really don’t understand anything that is not mom jeans. I HATE low rise things and crop tops mainly because I see them as a good way to get a serious chill in your kidneys and no one wants to see my incision scars from abdominal surgery ! Sorry you had such a rough time- clothing shopping at any size is a royal pain !
Ugh! Jean shopping is the worst!
I watched TV for St. Patty’s day
Right now I hate shopping alltogether! And if it’s for jeans…forget it. But a girl can only wear the same sweats for so long!
Cute that your dog will walk that long….we have a new St. Bernard puppy that I thought for sure would love to walk…he seems to run around the house a lot. We all went for a walk and 20 minutes into he flopped on the sidewalk and wouldn’t budge! I had to carry him! That’s been a couple week, haven’t tried it since.
We didn’t do anything for St. Patrick’s day. The girls wore green and I made cabbage for dinner, that’s about it!
Have a great day!
Jean shopping and bathing suit shopping rank right up there with root canals! PAINFUL!
For St Patty’s Day we had pizza! LOL And I”m Irish!
You know how I shop for my jeans? I buy them at the store (sometimes online) and pray they fit. I am not friends with the dressing room just yet.
I’m not a mom and I wear mom jeans… but only because i HATE the low-rise ones!!! I invested in a pair of Not Your Daughter’s Jeans which are THE BEST jeans EVER. Seriously.
Old Navy is not a good place to shop for jeans.
Jeans are frustrating to shop for no matter what your size. Fitting is just really tough!
awww, i don’t think they look like mom jeans at all! i love the variety of fits and rises at Old Navy….not to mention the value! i am also a fan of Express denim as well.
Lately when I see jeans that I like on someone and I ask where they’ve bought them, they end up being Gap 1969 Long & Lean jeans. And these aren’t teeny, tiny people either. I’ll be checking them out next week when my budget allows…
I made soda bread last night too. My St. Patrick’s Day tradition. Actually, who am I kidding? I make it at least once a month
I love making french toast with it too
I hate old navy jeans. lol
Try Levi’s Curvy Bootcut. I LOVE mine!
They fit over my thighs and bootayyy!
Drooling over dinner…ok, ok, mostly the bread!
Your pouty boo-b00 lip made me feel sad.
But the thought of that soup made me happy.
i think you looked fabulous in your jeans!
ROCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i hate trying on jeans. can i just live in leggings?
i am SO making pesto pasta tonight now
what did i do on stpats? ran 11 miles because i lost my car key during mile 5 or 6 which is really all i was supposed to do…but i had to look for said key…then i went home and at least had a green monster for dinner…too tired for anything else!
WOW, what a St. Patty’s feast! I made boiled dinner and soda bread LAST week because I thought St. Patrick’s day was last Wednesday. Oops. So I decided not to repeat it this week, instead I made the theme ingredient this week spinach! That’s green, right?
I do not think your jeans look like mom jeans!! lol. Sorry about the bad jeans trying-on!
Food looks delicious!
I swear no woman I know has ever had an easy time finding jeans!!
You are too cute! Those don’t look like mom jeans !
This Italian girl also made corned beef and cabbage, since my husband (and alas, my kids) are part Irish.
i think if you want to find flattering and comfortable jeans, old navy is a NO! i wear not one not two but three different sizes there! how is that possible LOL
your dinner spread looks awesome. i am actually impressed with your plate. those cheesy potatoes and pasta are screaming my name!
Don’t go to Old Navy ever again! (Just kidding) I find that a store like Kohl’s that carries a lot of different brands is what works for me. Then I can try on 20 pairs until I find just the right ones!!
I hate trying on jeans. It doesn’t matter what size I am, or if I’m at my biggest or at my smallest, trying on jeans almost always makes me feel terrible about my body. It’s always gaping at the waist, or too tight on the thighs and butt, or SOMETHING irritating.
So I totally sympathize.
For St. Patrick’s Day, I did a Shamrock Run 8K. It was fun, but really really cold!
You might want to consider umbilicalling your puppers. I went to a second hand store and bought a good sturdy leather belt. I loop my leashes onto the belt and am able to walk hands free. Bentley Beagle wears a halti, so he can’t pull, and Oscar Wiener walks beautifully by my side and we are all happy and my arm is still in it’s socket.
I’m sorry. I know you’re kind of sad about the Mom jeans but a) you’re gorgeous and 2) ass too biggy, jeans no fitty is the funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. I needed that! LOL!
Have fun slogging this weekend. I think that’s an awesome word by the way. I relate to it 100%.
I HATE trying jeans. I LOVE your food. I hope you found a happy place. I usually feel like jumping the rails. I’m secretly glad you kept them. Now I will know how to find you @ Fitbloggin’
OK. You are HYSTERICALLY funny. I laughed for a half hour after I read this! I’m sorry about your unfortunate jean experience, but the pouty face, the burned retinas–my belly hurts from laughing.
I have had similar experiences–and I must say, although I never thought I would do this–I have found a style of jean I like, and now I buy lots of the same pair. They have a few different washes, etc. and I have them all because I don’t like any others!!! Stupid jeans. GRRRRR.
Anyway, you are beautiful, and maybe you should have stomped on the jeans before you put them away. They deserve it.
