Cut It Out!
Hello guys! I have been MIA due to an “emergency” project that I needed to get done. It was an emergency because I waited too long to work on it and received a reminder phone call when I got back from the shore that it was needed by Tuesday afternoon! I didn’t expect that and thought I would have another week to work on it, but clearly, some people like to get things done in advance. Stinkin’ planners
So, I’ve been cutting up felt pieces (600)for this church volunteer project and it took me 20 hours to finish! No joke! Cutting and tracing all those pieces almost drove me to the loony bin. I literally felt what brain cells I have left slowly deteriorating with each cut.
Here’s what I ended up with…
So there you have it. The mundanity of my life
Okay, we’ve got some catching up to do…
Easter Weekend
I got to spend the holiday weekend with my family at the shore. The weather wasn’t so great on Saturday, but I still managed to get in a 6 mile bike ride with my Dad and another couple miles with big daughter.
I said my final good-bye to Vegetarian for Lent with a delicious stir-fry that my Mom made for me with seitan, veggies, ginger and tamari. I spooned it over brown rice. It was restaurant quality. Thanks, Mom!
Easter morning was beautiful and warm! I knew lots of food was on the horizon, so I made sure to get out for a quick 2 mile run.
Then, came in for the first installment of foodtopia. My Mom put out a little spread of goodies to snack on before church…
crumb cake, cookies and macaroons
My plate… I tried ….
We went off to church, then came back for the REAL food. Mom made an incredible brunch…
Frittata with spinach, potatoes, ham and cheese
smoked salmon, cream cheese and bagels
my Pizza Rustica (aka Pizza Gaina)
My plate… I tried…
We decided to have a brunch dessert, too. Mom’s fantastic Ricotta Pie (a sweet cheesecake-like pie)…
After brunch, we went to the beach and fell into a food coma. The view was beautiful…
But, I mainly saw the inside of my eyelids.
As if we needed more food, we had dinner reservations at a local restaurant…
I started with a small salad…
and a half slice of bruschetta…
My dinner choice was Tilapia Francais served with wheat spaghetti of which I ate a little more than half…
A fruit crepe dessert was brought to the table. I was pretty stuffed, so I just picked at some of it…
I slept like a log. No wonder.
***********
Monday was back at the homestead where the constant, send –me- to –the –loony- bin, cut-out project began.
Wanna know what else I need to cut-out? Eating. Snacking. Picking. I have lost control these past couple of days:(
I’m ready to get back on track , though. I realize how much I dislike the feeling of overeating now. I still have issues with it. I still have trouble controlling myself once I start. But, I know that I can’t eat poorly on a regular basis again. I’ll reign it in before it gets out of control. Progress, right?
I’ll be back tomorrow with my thoughts on Vegetarian for Lent.
Have a great day, everyone!
Are you a planner or a procrastinator (like me
)?

Hey,
to go with your question I’m pretty much like the saying we have in Germany:
“Ich habe ein Motivationsproblem bis ich ein Zeitproblem habe.”
which basically translates to: I have a motivation problem until I have a time problem.
So I like to plan but rarely ever do the stuff after I planned it through.
Your Easter sounded delicious.. I love how in the US everyone has a family get together with lots of good food for easter.
You are such a good egg!
I am both a planner and a procrastinator. I don’t like surprises so I like to know my deadlines even if I get them done with seconds to spare!
Hah, great title!
I always say that I work better under pressure, but yeah – I’m an expert procrastinator.
Man, you had good food at Easter! I think you did great – your portions were small, and you got to taste all the yumminess.
That fruit crepe dessert looks unreal. I can’t wait to hear your thoughs on veg for Lent!
I am a planner- but it did not come naturally ! The food looks amazing- but I can understand your groaning. It is good for the tongue and taste buds but not so great for the body ! The felt pieces make me think of my days of doing craft fairs AND homeshcool preschool with turning every story we read into felt board manipulative. Jut repeat to yourself “at least it’s not fake fur…at least its not fake fur…”
I am all about the procrastination…3 papers and an exam to study for all in 6 days? Sure, that sounds like a plan to me
I always get things done properly, but I cannot for the life of me get things done ahead of time.
This is too funny… my post today talks about what a procrastinator I am! So I guess that answers your question
WOW! I gottta say I’d love to eat at your Mom’s, what a spread! in answer to your question, with my family I have to be a planner, if I didn’t I’d probably lose my mind!LOL
When I am faced with big meals like that I find myself extra snacky for days after- weird! You are doing a great job! I wanna hear about your veggie experience!
I’m definitely a procrastinator, which is a problem sometimes!
And wow, all that food looks amazing!
Looks like you had good Food and Family and Felt time
I like to plan but mostly it is planning to procastinate too.
Looking forward to your veggie post.
That food looks soooooo good! Love the plate of meat LOL!
I like to plan, although I can be pretty spontaneous at times.
Marisa – that day of eating looked spectacular! But I got a tummy ache thinking of eating it all!! lol.
I’m a procrastinator! Totally! I wait to the last minute to do everything! If I try to do it earlier (like homework or paper writing), I can’t focus, ideas don’t come to me. The pressure of getting it done seems to help me! But I hate it! I wish I was a planner! Sometimes I try to be on the food front but some weeks…no way!
Don’t worry about the last few days of eating. The good thing is, there is always the next meal, or the next day! You can always just get right back on track!
Wow, that’s a lot of felt you cut out! :O I think they look great, though
It’s ok to indulge once in a while. I tend to do so around holidays, but I always know I’ll get back on track right away, and I feel much better
ooohhh – I’m in a food coma just looking at all the pictures!
Were you in Brigantine?? I work at a radio station at the shore! you should tune in when you’re down! 107.3 FM! My finacee’s family is Italian and we too had ricotta pie and the Easter cookies with the egg!
wow that is QUITE the project. um, i want EVERY carb in this post. wow, yum.
oh my goodness, i want every single thing that you took a picture of, it all looks so delicious! especially your pizza rustica! anything with the word pizza in it sounds good to me!
all those foods look delish!! i over did it on food over the weekend too! i hope one of these days we figure out how to not over eat and just enjoy a little!
and i would say i’m both…it just depends on the project!
Breakfast is my FAVOURITE meal of the day and now I’m not happy because I saw all your goodies and really am wondering why my computer cannot fit in my mouth!!
I am a master procrastinator… but then my people know better than to ask me to participate in anything even remotely crafty.
Question: what’s with the egg in the bread? I googled but could not find the why.
Everything looks beyond fantastic. Yummy!
Procrastinator, definitely.
now, with a child, Im the ubernerd I didnt like in school
I was always a harrrrd core procrastinator (even as a semigrownup in grad school) but now I have zero faith she wont accidentally derail my procrastination (by not sleeping or getting sick) so Im always the earlybird.
In nerdiness,
miz.
