Burgers And Dogs

Another early morning!  Surprisingly, I am not a total crankpot.  The husband had his doubts…

I hit up the kitchen first thing for my pre-run smoothie.  Today’s mix…

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze
  • 1/2 cup canned mango
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 3 ice cubes

It was a mini…

I spent the drive to the trail psyching myself up for this run.  I wanted 5 miles, but I was worried about my hip/leg acting up.  Why is it so hard to shake that “injured” feeling?

I started off with a few minutes of walking, then began running.  I felt some twinges here and there and kept thinking “oh no.”  So, I kept my pace  very slow, my strides short and my intervals to a 5:1 ratio.

I also noticed that I am heavy-footed.  I have a hard foot strike when I run and when I walk.  When I made the transitions to walking, I really tried to ease into it.  Like “tip-toeing through the tulips.” :)

By mile 3, my mind wasn’t so scared of my body and I knew I could make it.  And I did!  Pain-free!   I finished up 5 miles in 1 hour and 16 minutes.

I was so happy that I broke into a should not ever be seen in public victory dance in a parking lot…

People stared.

Public parking lot dancing is fun!   Have you tried it?  You should.  Very liberating ;)

I ran some more in the errand way, then made a bee-line for home and the kitchen for a quick “no-fuss” lunch…

Around the clock…  Applegate Farms uncured organic beef hot dog (love) on Trader Joe’s whole wheat bun, carrots, watermelon and Trader Joe’s Organic Baked Nacho Chips.

Crunch, munch, munch.

More munching with afternoon snack-on-the-go…

Dinner was another no-fuss meal:  grilled burgers and baked fries.  Sorry for the snorefest!

I did jazz up my burger with cheese, baby spinach and guacamummus

Guacamummus rocks on everything!

The whole shebang…

Well, I’m off and running.  More errands, that is.

Have a great day, everyone!

Ha – love the happy dance! :D Way to rock that run out!

Have you ever had Friday’s jalapeno burger? It’s not on their menu anymore, but they had battered deep fried jalapeno slices that rocked!

I not only dance in parking lots but I dance in the grocery store, car, dressing rooms, you name it! The robot is my dance of choice.

Good going on the parking lot dance! You should celebrate after a run like that.

I make a really good chipotle ketchup to put on burgers and it rocks!

Marisa – you are too cute! love the picture! And great job on the run! You are officially a…*gasp*…runner!

I do plain burger toppings most often. Cheese & Ketchup. But I’ve done a swiss bacon burger (with low fat swiss and center cut bacon). Delicious!

that smoothie looks yum, I’ll have to try it. I don’t think I’ve ever put mangoes in a smoothie.

Great run!! I’m all about mustard on everything – burgers, dogs, fries, portabellos, veggie burgers, etc. Occasional relish is fab too!

Okay, so did you set the timer on your camera so you could take your dancing picture? Cause that just makes it funnier!
Man, I really, really want some guacamummus – you are making this preggo girl crazy!
