Panties In A Bunch
I got my panties in a bunch with this morning’s run. Literally. I’ll spare you the gory details. Suffice it to say that wedgie-free underwear is the number one accessory for running otherwise your inappropriate panties may require surgical removal or the use of mining tools to extract them from a place deep within your soul.
Okay, so much for sparing you the gory details…
Anywhoooo, it was a fun run (despite the aforementioned wardrobe malfunction) with a new free podcast from Motiontraxx . It was a 30 minute interval workout using Jeff Galloway’s Method of 30:30 ratio (30 sec. run/30 sec. walk). I was surprised that I got into the shorter intervals. I felt strong throughout and loved that the podcast told me when to run and walk. It was so much easier than looking at my watch the whole time. I ended with 2.4 miles in 32 minutes. Fun! Except for… well, you know
After the extraction, I dug into (heh heh) my dashboard breakfast…
I didn’t have time for my usual pre-run smoothie, so I grabbed an Orange Date Baked Oatmeal Bar from the freezer before I left. These are so tasty and freeze very well!
I took a trip to Trader Joe’s and stocked up on all kinds of goodies. Here’s one of my new favorites…
I heated 1/2 cup and served it over some brown rice. Ah-mazing…
I didn’t bring an afternoon snack along for my ride taking little daughter to dance class, but lunch held me over well enough that I didn’t need it.
When dinnertime rolled around, I was READY! I had a quick pre-planned dinner in mind. The star of the meal was the Vegetable Masala Burger from Trader Joe’s…
These are vegan and made with potato, carrots, green beans, bell peppers and indian spices. I was worried these might be too spicy for me, but they had just a hint which is perfect.
I pan-fried my burger and topped it with one of my latest obsessions…
A marriage made in heaven…
I didn’t read the ingredients when I picked these up, so I assumed they were a bean and veggie-type burger. I originally planned a “burger and fries” kind of night, but when I took this out to cook, I realized it was potato based. I had already started the sweet potato fries for a side, so I just went with it. It was a “potato and fries” kind of night instead!
With some roasted broccoli and cauliflower for good measure…
I didn’t plan it, but I had a totally vegetarian day

I wanted to say thank you for the supportive comments on my last post. I appreciate your insights and understanding so much.
Have a great day, everyone!
A VERY personal question today…
Do you wear underwear when you work out or do you go “commando”??
You already know my answer!

For spinning or cycling I have padded bike shorts, and I was told I was supposed to wear it w/o undies. So I’m simply following instructions.
For running (or anything else) I can’t imagine going commando – I just feel much more comfortable with underwear – and I prefer “sport thongs” (they sell good ones at lululemon) because they cause less wedgies, but still doesn’t create the dreaded VPL.

I find it helps to keep a few pairs of “substantial” undies in the drawer for workout days in order to avoid the excavation routine. They have to be all cotton, too. I’m sure you can figure that one out.
Your dinner looked yummy!
Marisa, you crack me up! I laughed out loud when I read your post. Definitely not commando, although thought about it. Same issues. I have a few pair that fit “just right” and are great for when I go for my runs, but once in a while, laundry isn’t caught up and then it’s definitely an issue.
Commando! I usually wear spandex-like capris or something. I admit it…hahaha.
Have you seen yoga pants??? You can’t be standing up in front of a class with underwear lines! Thong. Uncomfortable? Well, sometimes we have to suffer for fashion. Enough said.
For running–I wear the same. I have gotten very used to the permanent wedgie. Humans are very capable of adapting, it turns out. Hehehe.
Commando 99% of the time!
I haven’t gone “commando” since sometime in the early ’80s. It kind of grosses me out to think I ever went out without panties on. I need some wedgie-free underwear. Where do you find them?
Sorry I am old school underwear for me. You food today looked wonderful. I tried something very different yesterday, I did a dvd workout for 15 minutes, once an hour for 6 hours, I am getting creative I guess trying to get things jump started again.
I can’t even answer that question because I’m blushing!
I love your potato/potato dinner. We eat vegetarian about 4 nights a week. Meat is expensive!
I am so jealous of you for Trader Joes! The nearest one to me is over 3 hours away! Total Boo!
I run in my most wedgie free undies, but it still happens sometimes. I’m not sure I’m brave enough to go commando, but those shorts with the built in undies appeal to me greatly. I may try them and write about them.
haha
I’m jealous of your Trader Joes too. My nearest one is 527 miles away! Rarely commando. I’d be afraid my yoga pants would fall down. Plus substantial panties = less jiggle.
Those TJ’s masala burgers, I’ve been buying for like a year! I love them! They are also good with laughing cow cheese. So creamy! I need to get your other TJ finds!
Um, I almost hate to admit it, but I go commando 99% of the time when working out too. I do wear stretch shorts a lot but even if I don’t, I find the underwear cut into my skin sometimes and I would get sores, etc. I don’t know. Not worth it to me!
I have a pair of capris that make my bikini’s become a thing from just walking. lol
I like those burgers from TJ’s but not on a bun- I think the texture calls for them to be served like you ate it- or over veggies. I gotta try that Raita, I bet it went well with those burgers.
YUM!
oh man …A THONG! Not a thing! lol I have not finished my coffee yet. lol
Um.
I didn’t used to. But I do now. And that’s embarrassing. I do it just because, well I feel better with somehow. But mine don’t wedge.
I wear a thong, because that’s all I have. All I have to say is thank goodness I work out at home because it gets a bit twisted. :-/
Holy giant beans!
I wear underwear most ofthe time, even though most of my workout shorts have them built in.
If I workout during lunch, sometimes I go sans underwear, because I need to not get them sweaty if I forgot my extra pair in my gym bag
Thanks for the awesome product reviews! I had never seen those white beans OR the sauce in TJ’s – i’m on the prowl now!
My shorts have underwear in them and they work perfect for me -no… extractions necessary!! hehe
Underwear…YES! My latest annoyance is my sportsbra though, or rather the lack of support it gives. I am hunting for a sportsbra that will let me do jumping jacks:)
As for the Trader Joes…I so want those veggie burgers. I love Trader Joes, but we do not have any in South Florida:(
The Fit & Frugal Challenge
I went to TJ’s over the weekend – I hope to try the Thai curry sauce with my lunch tomorrow – I did hardly any grocery shopping this week, and since tomorrow is Thursday already, I probably won’t! Should make for some interesting meals the next two days!
Underwear!
I am loving the motion traxx podcasts. I did the 30:30 this weekend too and will definitely do it again!
Those beans look great!
I’m a thong girl, funny how the only time I need to wear one is when I workout….I need to get out more, lol!
I’ll have to look for the white beans. They look and sound amazing!
I found some really comfortable thongs that work well for working out.
Yum! I really need to make a trip to Trader Joe’s. Ok, commando, really? I had no idea people ever did that. I am pretty sure my mom would have considered that some kind of sin.

i like the way those veggie burgers taste but they don’t really fill me up i think b/c of the low protein content?!
