The Time Is Near
Is it really Memorial Day weekend?! It just doesn’t seem right. I’m blocking it from my mind because Memorial Day weekend means it’s getting close to having to wear this…
Eeek. Is there a beach for the blind? If so, that’s where I am vacationing this summer. And all my bathing suits are black and forever will be. Blind people don’t care. If they knew, they would feel sorry for me because they know I am in mourning. Wearing a bathing suit will do that to you.
Anywhooo, it was run day, today! I fueled up with a fruit and nut snack…
Plus some press…
I met up with my running buddy and we set out on the paved trail that I frequent. It was H.O.T. Like hell. It was 84 degrees this morning and we felt every bit of it. We decided on the 5:1 interval again and a few times I had to check my GYMBOSS to make sure it was still working (it was!) because the 5 minute runs seemed like an eternity. In hell. But, we pushed on. The heat really got to us, so we finished up at 4 miles, walking the last interval. Still proud we got out there!
When I got home, the thought of eating was not appealing. Hello, can I bottle that??? I knew that I should refuel after a run like that with a decent breakfast, but my stomach was not having it. So, I got a shower and did some work until I felt ready for an early lunch.
Burger and “fries”….
I nuked up a Trader Joe’s Grilled Chicken Burger (these are growing on me now) and served it on an Ezekiel hamburger bun with cheese, lettuce and salsa…
Along with leftover roasted potatoes and carrot sticks…
I was pretty full after that. Ezekiel buns are so hearty and filling. They are my favorite!
I picked on a few almonds for an afternoon snack, but I wasn’t hungry. I decided to stop before I made myself hungry.
And at dinner time, I was! I morphed some leftover grilled eggplant into a Three Cheese Eggplant Bake. Basically, it was like an eggplant parm! I layered the eggplant in a baking dish with ricotta, mozzarella and parmesan cheese along with marinara sauce. I baked it at 350 degrees until it was cheesy goodness…
Served with a simple green salad to round out the meal…
Later, my appetite came back around so I had more watermelon water ice for a sweet ending…
Happy Friday, everyone!
Are you comfortable in a bathing suit? Do you wear colors, solids or your basic “going to a funeral at the beach” black?

Ha I basically LIVE in black when it comes to clothes, but never in a bathing suit because I am SO PALE. It is scary. I think the older I’ve got, the more comfortable I’ve become. I’d say I’m most uncomfortable about my lack of tan!
I agree with Jessica. The older I’ve gotten, the more comfortable I feel in my skin… so I’m okay with being in a swim suit… most of the time
YUM. You are gonna look smokin hot in that swimsuit. You know it. You know you like it.
I finally feel good in my skin too – that comes with getting older (40 next week!) and for me, getting into shape. I am excited to wear a bathing suit this year – but I will probably still wear a tankini, maybe even with a small skirt (hate that bikini line!). and I love colors – brighter the better!
I love to swim and I love the sun, bathing suits not so much. I usually wear a two piece and really do not care what my body looks like but now that I have lost close to 40 lbs I feel more subconscious…go figure!
I actually thought that photo was lingerie at first! Sexay!
I don’t love bathing suits, but I actually don’t swim that much anyway. I love my trisuit and am more comfortable wearing that outdoors. I just still feel self conscious about my upper arms, although it is better.
My bathing suit is a leopard print, though.
I will never, ever, ever wear a black bathing suit. With my pale (I call it alabaster, my dh calls it death warmed over) skin, black is the worst color. I try to go with a tankini style that has a bright print on top and a solid color on the bottom.
Swimskirt is a must for me, after 3 kids and my age, that part of my body needs full coverage:)
I have always been comfortable in swimsuits, simply because I love to swim. I was on our Park Districts swim team as a teen. As long as it is a suit that is made for actual swimming, no problem. Anything that would fall off if you dove in wrong is a problem for me.Color does not matter- functionality is what I look for. I still swim today and love it ! Sadly it looks like our complex pool is not going to open this year
Sadly, I have so much loose skin on my tummy (I call it my “apron of skin”) one pc suits make me look VERY pregnant. I’m much better off with a 2 pc or “tankini style. I opt for loud patterns because shiny solids draw attention to the bulges on my belly. Is it illegal to wear Spanx under a swimsuit? I’m seriously considering it.

I think that is a brilliant idea! Gotta make sure you give yourself enough time to get to the bathroom, though. Could get complicated – LOL!
I need to buy more watermelon!!
I am a black bathing suit person
Maybe by the end of the summer I’ll buy a colorful one after my 101 Days of Summer Challenge!
I find it hard to find a black suit. I mostly wear the 2 piece skirted ones- they look better on me- hide a little of my thigh. (a little!) I just bought a 1 piece (no skirt) but will not wear it. My mirror shows something really NASTY when I wear that! lol Oh well…someday, maybe- until then I will do the skirt thing.
I gotta find those hamburger buns- look good!
I love the idea of a beach for the blind. I cracked up!
LOL! I need a beach for the blind! I HATE putting on a bathing suit.
I’ve always worn a bathing suit. I may not be comfortable, but I pretend I am! “Fake it until you make it!” I love swimming and summer and I will wear one without a cover up! I don’t care about those other people and you shouldn’t either!
Mine now was last years from Kohls. It’s black on the bottom but the top half is blue with black flowers. I love it! The one before it my nephew said looked like a “grandma” suit! And I always felt self conscience! Last year I made sure to buy one that doesn’t look like that!
Great job on the run and the food!
It is good to have something after you run and I’ve learned that a glass of milk it the perfect thing! Even chocolate milk. You can try that next time you don’t feel like eating after a run. It’s one of the best things!
Watermelon ice looks so yummy!!!!
Hmmmm. All my suits are dark in color now that I think about it. Black, blue, and purple. Maybe I should get a sand color so no one can see me! LOL
I spent my entire 20’s hiding from a bathing suit and I refuse to do that in my 30’s. Life’s too short to care what other people think. And remember, you are your worst critic. I’m sure you look great in a bathing suit with color. I’m thinking bright red!
I’m not big on bathing suits. I grew 8 inches in one summer in middle school so if you can imagine the stretch marks that appeared on my thighs, waist and a$$ then it’s easy to see why I dread wearing them. I’m sure I’ll get over it some day but it looks like Edward Scissorhands got ahold of me.
My goal for this summer is to swim at least twice per week, so I better get comfortable in my bathing suit…
I used to only wear black but just bought a red one! I’m very pale, and the black just was too harsh…
Good job on the run! It’s tough to run in the heat (even though I wouldn’t know as it’s really cold here in California…)!
Have a great weekend!
LOL @ beach for the blind. Love it… and want it
That burger and the eggplant look divine. I don’t wear bathing suits in public, maybe at home… in the dark. lol
Jenn
LOL at the bathing suit saga! Last year I didn’t even put a swim suit on. This year is going to be different. I have not tried the one on yet from my skinny days but I am going to this weekend. I hope it fits.!
I have a two piece tankini from Lands End that does not show too much skin!
Marisa I have missed you! I just tagged four of your entries for recipes! Nice that you’ve found a running buddy. Very motivating indeed.
So does Philly have Stanley Cup fever??? Are you a hockey fan? Did you know that the Flyers captain is from my home town?
Planning to read more regularly again and may even start bloggin again. T.

Everyone in Philly is bleeding black and orange right now!!!
That eggplant bake looks amazing! And i’m still loving your little 3-food plates – they look so clean and fabulous!
I’m not comfortable in a swimsuit – I never have been! I prefer a bit more clothes!
