It’s Respectable
I came across this saying today…
Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability. ~Sam Keen
I feel better now.
I slept in. No working out. And finally got around to making breakfast around 10 a.m. But, it’s deep summer so this is respectable. Thank you, Sam.
Breakfast was an egg white omelet with leftover spinach and lite cream cheese…
Cream cheese is so good in an omelet…
After breakfast, I got into gear and went to the supermarket for a few needed items. I came across a new find – premade falafel from Falafel Republic…
I LOVE FALAFEL!!!
I may or may not have screamed this aloud in the store.
I sped home to make my falafel lunch. I forgot 14 other things I needed because all I cared about was falafel at this point.
I heated them up in the toaster oven and added them to a La Tortilla Factory Tortilla with roasted red pepper and plain nonfat greek yogurt…
All rolled up with a side of cherries…
I thought these were GREAT! I LOVE FALAFEL!! Okay, I’ll stop screaming now. At least I’m home.
The falafel was so filling, I didn’t need much of a snack in the afternoon. I decided a peach would hold me over until dinner…
I tried a new side dish for dinner – Broccoli Salad with Creamy Feta Dressing from Eating Well’s site. I’ve been meaning to try this, but you know what my “recipes to try” stash looks like! Unfortunately, I didn’t like this. It was too tangy for my taste. I felt it needed some sweetness to contrast the bite. I doctored it up with dried cherries, sliced almonds and a bit of honey…
It created a better balance of flavors, however, I probably wouldn’t make this again.
The rest of dinner was fine – sliced pork tenderloin with balsamic glaze and Israeli couscous…
After digesting, I decided to kick some butt – old school…
I cannot even explain how horrible I am at this. Right….left….kick…punch…upper cut…trip….fall over…roll around…twist your ankle….
Yeah, bad.
I sweat. I tripped. I made it to the end. Sort of. Forty-five minutes of that kind of hysteria calls for some press…
Aaaah, I feel better now.
Have a great day, everyone!
What was your favorite “old school” exercise video? Mine was a Jane Fonda (yes, I am ancient). I remember grapevining my heart out!

Oooh mine was The Firm. I totally did that in my early teens.
I love that quote! I’ve been taking 15 minute power naps in the afternoon….I like to blame the heat for sucking the energy out of me and filling it back up with lazy bones.
I love Billy Blanks. I have about 5 of his dvds still. I used to have some Denise Austin yoga…not relaxing at all. She’s too freakin peppy.
I used to do Denise Austin’s workouts when the teenager was little… Brings back memories…
Taebo is mine too – I have them on VHS! And I am not coordinated in the least – usually I am doing the exact opposite of what is on the screen!
I’ll have to add cream cheese to my omelet next time – never thought of it!
I have a Jane Fonda still!!
I am not very coordinated so I end up going with Leslie Sansone most the time because there are no dance moves. I have yet to try FALAFEL I will have to keep my eye out for it.
I hate exercise videos. I never can get it. I go immediately back to those middle school days with me fumbling around in the back. I swear there were a couple of episodes that were like dominoes. Me being the first one to topple. I hate exercise videos. That is why I do one three times a week.
I LOVE FALAFEL TOO!!!! I also really want to try that broccoli salad. Can I come eat with you? haha

Anytime!
I don’t have any favorite old school workout videos but my favorite memory of one is the one my mom used to record and do in the living room.
It was a man on a beach with this round mats that he and his “posse” stood on! lol. I don’t know his name though.

I think that sounds like Gilad! I used to try his, too!
I am ignoring the question to ask one of my own!
How do you make your omelets? Do you have one of those microwave things?? I saw one in the store yesterday and almost bought it, but then didn’t….would love know if that’s what you use and do you love it?

I just use a small nonstick pan. I let it totally set up, then I flip it over. Less mangling that way
LOL! I love doing my mom’s old 8 Minute Abs videos
oohh I’d try those taebo workouts but mine are on VHS and there is not VHS player in site at my house! lol Sad!
Falafel looks good…scream away girl!
I had an old Kathy Smith VHS (that’s how old it it). I don’t even remember the name. I loved Kathy Smith!
Love the quote and I LOVE FALAFEL TOOOOO! I’ve only ever actually had it prepared one way–the Hungry Girl recipe, but it’s really good. Unlike most of their recipes which includes “fake” food (you know, Fiber 1 and sugar-free, fat-free stuff), this one is healthy and baked and so good. You can check it out here if you are interested: http://reciperhapsody.wordpress.com/2010/02/23/falafel-pita-pockets/ . I also love love love cherries and Tae Bo. So I love a lot of things in your post today!
My favorite old-school workout video is Richard Simmons Sweatin’ To the Oldies. I sold the VHS in a garage sale 5 years ago and I miss it.

Thank you for sharing that link!
I tried so hard to to TaeBo. I had the videos and I just never was coordinated enough to enjoy doing them at all, so I gave them away.
I have a whole bunch of Leslie Sansone videos, leg warmers included LOL
Love love love Fallafel with hummus and salad in pita – yum, just talking about it makes me want to be at a fallafel stand in Israel with all there yummy salads and fresh fallafel balls.
I’ve never thought to put cream cheese in eggs – love it want to do it!!! I was never a fan of workout videos – eek!
I’m all about The FIRM workout videos, I know they aren’t that old school but I think they still qualify. I did taebo in high school with some friends, it’s hard to turn down all those upper cuts lol.
ohhh Tae bo that used to be my go to workout in college!!! Haven’t busted that out in awhile

I’ve never had cream cheese in eggs but I had a zucchini, onion and feta omelet that was awesome so I’m definitely going to have to try it!
Just love that summer quote
Haha, this post made me laugh – I have the exact same reaction to falafel as you do, and can you believe, up until 6 months ago I had never tried it. It basically changed my life
I love cream cheese in an omelet too. My mom used to make them for me with avocado, cream cheese an Spike seasoning. To die for.
FALAFEL!
[...] FALAFEL!!! Same as the other day – with plain yogurt and roasted peppers. Paired with a simple tomato, cucumber and basil salad… [...]
I loved grapevining with Kathy Smith
