Scrape, Eat, Repeat

No more lazin’ around!  I woke up this morning and decided to go for a run.  As I started getting dressed, I was thinking it was the worst idea ever and really wanted to go back to bed!

I got out there despite my second thoughts.  It was hot and I was slow, but got ‘er done…

I finished at 3.1 miles doing 3:1 intervals.  Felt good!

Came home to some icy press…

and a hot bowl of oats…

IMG_7280

  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/3 cup plain soymilk
  • 1/3 cup water
  • dash salt
  • 1/2 banana
  • splash vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp. PB2
  • 1 tbsp. peanuts

Totally into peanuts/peanut butter lately :)

After breakfast, I got to work scraping off wallpaper in my dining room.  Suckiest job on the planet!  I’m moving away from this traditional look…

IMG_7285

and away from this stinkin’ rug…

IMG_7286

I have disliked that rug for so long.  It has fringe on the ends and looks all straggly and ratty!

Lunch provided me with a little scraping break.  I heated up an Italian Turkey Burger from the freezer, topped it with fontina cheese, served with a side of sauteed spinach and Triscuits…

IMG_7291

Scrape, scrape, scrape.  Cry.

Late afternoon, I took another break to make up a snack.  I was daydreaming about Ricotta Stuffed Peaches again…

IMG_7295

So delicious!

Back to worrrrrrk.

After 6 hours, it’s finally off…

IMG_7296

Now to pick a paint color!  I’m thinking gold… :)

I was in the mood for a big salad for dinner.  Using some leftovers, I put together a Buffalo Chicken Cobb Salad

  • romaine lettuce
  • tomato
  • 1/4 avocado
  • slice of center cut bacon, crumbled
  • 1 cup leftover Grilled Buffalo Chicken
  • hard boiled egg

IMG_7299

I topped the salad with Blue Cheese Dressing made using 2 Laughing Cow Blue Cheese Wedges and a few tbsp. nonfat milk whirred in the mini food processor.

Love colorful food!  Speaking of color…

Off to stare at paint samples :)

Have a great day, everyone!

What was the last room you redecorated?

You are right- scraping wallpaper IS the suckiest job on the planet ! Can’t wait to see what you do to the room !

I just saw a room painted gold with black and white accessories…it was incredible! Almost makes me want to paint…but I think I’ll go make a cob salad instead! ;-)

EW!! Wall paper is the worst. I did my inlaws living room once…took F O R E V E R! I feel all wall paper should be banished! LOL

Wallpaper scraping is HARD! Bravo to you. We did my parents 2 guest bathrooms last year and not only was it tough, but my hands weren’t the same for weeks!

Being as I am still working on decorating our house that we’ve been in 1.5 years. I haven’t RE-decorated anything. Although we are working on putting up curtains in the formal dining right now. And I want to get a new comforter for our guest room. Bought one on Wednesday, but Dan didn’t like it :-(

I love your food it always looks wonderfull and very well done on the run.
The last room I decorated was my bedroom and it was awefull.
Trauma. Never try to decorate with a boyfreind who is not so DIY minded hehe
Ps. we had that rug in dark blue in our front room for years here in the uk!

I’ve heard of PB2 on Weight Watchers message boards but yours confuses me since it’s not a powder. Do you mix it with something before you use it? Your dining room totally reminds me of the 90’s–is that when you put it together? I think it will look fab when you’re finished, it’s a nice space with plenty of sunlight. I haven’t really redecorated, but I did have to buy all new shower curtain, soap dispenser, trash can, floor mat, etc for the bathroom b/c I got the genius idea that I was going to change the theme (it was tropical fish) and got rid of everything and then didn’t know what to do. So like a year later I finally did…dolphins. I know, what a change, right? And it was actually nicer before with a really cool clock that had tropical fish swimming in a coral reef around the edge. Now my bathroom is kinda pathetic. :(

Yes, I mix it according to the directions on the jar with a tbsp. water. Sometimes, I play around with the ratio to make it thinner to drizzle over banana ice cream!

LOL @ my 90’s dining room. Yep, you got me on that one – 1998 :)

Since I just bought my house (well, it’s been 8 months now!), I haven’t done anything. I’m trying to decide what to do but am afraid of commitment! :/

I like the room better already! Wallpaper = :(

I’ve scraped my parents wallpaper back in 1990 when they moved in to their house. That was the LAST TIME! lol

I am seriously thinking that you need to be a personal chef…mine! I would never make a salad look so good for just me!!
BTW, the dining room already looks much nicer!! ;)

Marisa Reply:

You should make one like that for yourself cuz you deserve it, girlie!

10 Julia { 07.23.10 at 2:16 pm }

I dislike wall paper on the walls and having to take it off, luckily when we bought this house there was none – yay!!
I am busy painting our guest room and hoping to finish this weekend – it is a big job with 5 doors and 2 windows :)
Hope it turns out good – looking forward to seeing what you chose :)

That salad looks amazing!

OMG – so you’re moving away from traditional?! Where are you headed? I suppose my last room was Austin’s new office. Before that, dining room! I LOVE decorating!

Looking to do something more updated – not quite modern, but definitely less frilly! You do an awesome job decorating – I NEED YOU!!!

mm nothing says a reward like a good ol bowl of oats after a workout! congrats on the 3.1 miles! yay :)

Wow, you did that whole room by yourself?? You are superwoman! We just finished the girls’ new shared bedroom – I did an “under the sea” theme, since they both love fish and ocean life. I’ll be posting pics soon. Now we’re working on our upstairs bathroom – which had WALLPAPER in it – so wish I knew what a professional you were, I would have had you do the bathroom here, lol!!!

14 Lynn @ The Next Chapter { 07.23.10 at 6:29 pm }

I can’t wait to see what you do with the dining room! I love home renos. Well, the “after” part any how. :)

That is such a great idea for the peaches. Mmm!

15 Biz { 07.23.10 at 11:26 pm }

Yep, removing wallpaper is the worst! The last thing we did over was our bathroom – when we moved in, the whole thing, walls, toilet, tub, sink, etc. was Pepto Bismol pink!

We painted it chocolate brown, and the only thing we have left to do is paint the tub.

Way to get the run in!

Not sure where you’re located, but if you ran in the ‘feels like’ 40 degree heat that I ran in today, good for you girl. Really I should be saying good for you anyway b/c you pushed yourself when you didn’t want to. WTG!!!!

I’m totally impressed you did thtat wallpaper after a run too. If I didn’t have to work tonight, I know I would have been a lazy couch potato. Good for you once again. I’m sure it will look awesome when you’re finished.

17 Andrea@WellnessNotes { 07.24.10 at 2:45 am }

Your ricotta filled peaches look and sound sooo good!

My whole house is in need of a “makeover.” Have fun with your project! :)

18 Carolina Girl { 07.24.10 at 3:55 pm }

Oooh scraping wallpaper, no fun! But it will look great when you are done! and just think about the calories you burned, lol Great job on the run too!

I just got a whole mess of peaches, so I am definitely going to try this peach ricotta treat! Can’t wait!

19 Papaya { 07.24.10 at 6:39 pm }

Oh my, those Ricotta Stuffed Peaches look divine!

20 sophia { 07.24.10 at 10:01 pm }

I’m not much for decorating…the last room I had, which was in college, was barely decorated, just stuffed with food. lol. But this time, I hope to do some nice decorating to my new room.

You’re amazing for doing all that yourself. I would have made an excuse and got someone to do it for me. ;-p
