I love recipes, too! I’m actually trying to “control myself” and lately haven’t been collecting as many recipes and cookbooks as I used to (but I did buy another cookbook just the other day). I have serious space issues, so I truly ran out of space… I do have a “recipe file” on my computer, and I do add new recipes to it quite frequently.
I think recipes are a great way to get inspirations, but I actually hardly ever (you could say never) follow a recipe or even look at it before I cook.
I loved seeing you on the video.
I am just as bad as you with the recipe hoarding, maybe even worse! I have 8 binders of recipes I have collected from the Internet, I have not tried them all either.
I have to say that since I started blogging I don’t spend time looking for new recipes on the internet. Instead I am posting or reading blogs.
I love, love, love cookbooks and read them like novels! It really is a sickness!!
WOW! That’s a lot of cookbooks and recipes! I’ve gotten rid of a lot of my cookbooks over the years, mostly because I can find recipes easily online. And then there’s the fact that my desire to cook has really waned over the years. I am not sure why, because I used to love cooking. Now, it’s like I can’t be bothered. I think it’s due, in part, to the fact that I am “feeding” and “expressing” myself with my writing. And I don’t have kids…
You are not alone! I have a HUGE pile of torn out/printed out recipes that I have yet to try and place in a binder to save. lol
I started a new rule with myself a few months ago. I can only buy a cookbook that has the nutritional info listed on the pages. lol It has slowed down the amount of cookbooks that have accumulated on my bookshelf for sure! lol I also haev been going to the library to check out books- but then I mark pages and go to get copies…now I have copied pages in a pile….lol It’s always something!
Maybe we can start up a recipe hoarder support group or something? Come on Louise, we can take it on the road! lol
Yours is TINY in comparison to mine, and then I have about 200 sites bookmarked with recipes on the internet. Considering we are moms who need to cook for our selves , family AND provide the wow at holidays and celebrations plus bake sales, parties and what not, is this really a bad thing ? I think it might qualify if suddenly you had a recipe room- or the recipe wing of a large house
I thought I was the only one that has recipes literally EVERY WHERE! My question to you is how do we get these organized? I try recipes and then I forget about them. I am trying to figure out way that they are easy for me to find and not forget. Any ideas?

I wish I knew! I have been thinking the same thing! If I put them on the computer, I will never look at them again. At least in binders, I take them out every so often to page through for new ideas. Let me know if you come up with something!
Love this! And it looks like my house! I have the shelves and shelves of cookbooks, magazines, binders and folders too with even more on the computer waiting to be printed out. I like to blame it on genetics, my mom did the same. We both read cookbooks for pleasure, like a novel. Thanks for the tour.
Marisa, we could be twins, or since I have a twin sister already, you could be my triplet! I have printed out more recipes, filled more binders, go to garage sales, look at good will, for more cookbooks, etc… it’s crazy. The worst part is when I am I have no idea what to make!
I love your cookbook hoarding collection! All I kept thinking about was that it’s so organzied! I haven’t gotten to that step. I print out a lot of recipes, throw them all over my house and when I finally clean, throw them away! lol.
Thank you!!! You all make me feel so much better. I’m glad I am not alone in this – LOL! So, right… maybe there isn’t anything wrong with this after all!!!!
I thought I was the only one! It really is an addiction and what is so funny is that I rarely use a recipe! I make the same stuff and maybe incorporate ideas of things I’ve read! I just love to read them (like a novel as mentioned aready!) Maybe you could start RHA – Recipe Hoarders Anonymous! (Sheesh, I need an intervention!)
Now you’ve revealed my secret! How did you know? I am a big garage sale fan – so when people are selling a nice cookbook for .50 cents or a $1.00 I say, “Why not?”

I neeeed to get more of an addiction in that realm I think
