Kitchen Workout
I’m having a little too much fun with Exercise TV ! This morning’s workout was the Bollywood Dance video again , along with another Bolly-style video and Cardioke. Yes, Cardioke!!! LOL! Thanks to Diane for suggesting it. It is the brainchild of Billy Blanks, Jr., son of Billy Blanks of the infamous Tae Bo. This video is no kickboxing, though. It’s all about dance moves and sing-alongs! I KNOW! I can’t stop laughing every time I think about it. His idea is that singing while doing the dance moves helps to build endurance and burn more calories. Although, it’s a bit gimmicky ( I would liken it to a modern day Richard Simmons-type video), it is loads of fun! I did not feel like it was a workout in the sense that I wasn’t constantly wishing that it was over soon. All total, I got in an hour of sweaty fun and believe it or not, I already feel muscle soreness! I guess I’m working some different muscles with the dance moves.
I’m likin’ it
After I got my groove on, I got my breakfast on…
Clean Eating Brownie Waffles with PB2 and banana…
This is such a filling AND amazing breakfast!
As promised, I got to work in the kitchen today. First up was another creation from The Gracious Pantry – Garam Masala Red Lentil Stew…
I halved the recipe and it still made a ton! I didn’t have any Garam Masala, so I just used a little extra curry powder. It looked a little different than the original recipe but was still delicious!
Served with some pita chips for scooping…
A munched on a few extra pita chips later in the afternoon, but thankfully the bag remains intact. I have been known to annihilate a bag of those suckers!
I left India for a taste of Greece at dinner – grilled Greek shrimp with tzatziki sauce…
along with Harvest Grains Salad with Roasted Peppers and Feta…
I’ve been wanting to use this bag of Harvest Grains Blend from Trader Joe’s but wasn’t quite sure how… until I came up with this salad tonight!
Harvest Grains Salad with Roasted Peppers and Feta
- 3 cups cooked Harvest Grains Blend
- 1 cup roasted peppers, diced
- 2 oz. lite feta cheese, crumbled
- 2 tbsp. finely chopped red onion
- 2 tbsp. chopped fresh oregano
- 6 large pitted Kalamata olives, chopped
- 1 small garlic clove, minced
- 1 tbsp. evoo
- 1 tbsp. red wine vinegar
Combine ingredients and serve!
A simple side salad rounded out this tasty meal…
Not bad for a day’s work
Have a great day, everyone!
How many times a week do you try a new recipe?

Your food always looks so pretty and so delicious!
Your Wafflewich looks SO good!!! I really must try making my own waffles! Hubby and I have each been picking a new recipe to try every week to try and keep things interesting. I hate getting in a slump and always eating the same things!
Glad you liked Cardioke- it’s a kick ! Another good thing about the On Demand offerings for exercie TV is that they change a lot of the offerings every so many months so there is something freah. Warning…some of the offerings you may want to steer your kids from. There is one series that they show sometimes called Flirty Girl workouts that are focused on something called chair dancing, which looks to me like it could also be called intro to lap dancing. Could be fun to learn on your own, but not something for the girls !
Recipes- on good weeks I try a new one every week. Other times I just get so enamored with a rotation it sticks with us for a couple of weeks. The TJ Harvest Grains looks like it has a lot of possibilities , and would be very yummy ! I am thinking it could be fun to see if this blend worked as a rice replacement in arrancini for one thing. I know…sacrilegious !!
Taste of Greece?! Fabulous! Love that you’re loving that Bollywood!
I try to get into new recipes but usually instead of having 1 or 2 a week I do “new recipe week” and try 5-7 that week! LOL It’s kind of fun that way!
Fabulous foods, they look so yummy!!!
OHHH got to get me some Harvest Grains Salad, how Yum! Can’t get On Demand where I live…drats!
Yum, that Greek dinner looks sooo good! I go through fits of trying new recipes, following by fits of cooking the same ole’ sh*t, lol.
Food is beautiful as always. I’m a sucker for tzaziki sauce. LOVE it with dolmas and/or falafel.
What a fun workout!!! You make me want to dance.
I had to order more PB2 last week- how are you doing with your case? I think I’ve eaten it every AM on my baked oatmeal since I got it! lol
I love that harvest grain mix- Danica (of Danica’s Daily) got me hooked on it! You can do so much with it!
YUM to all of your EATS!
I just tried that Harvest Grain blend this week and have to say yours looks sooooo much better than ours!! I just made it plain from the package and served it with cilantro lime shrimp. The grains were okay but it definitely needed something for flavor. Exercise TV is a great thing! I’ve done that Cardioke with a friend and we laughed and had a great time and ended up sweaty, so that’s a good thing! Oh, and I’ve been loving the brownie waffles too!! They are super filling and satisfying – thank you for posting about them!!
the harvest grain mix looks amazeballs! i’ve got to check it out!
Seriously, I have to try that breakfast! Although I need a waffle maker first :/
And that harvest grain mix looks great!
All I can say is you are my hero. I just am having such a hard time getting back to the exercise thing, between working and playing, just haven’t had it in me. So you go girl! Good for you! Sounds like fun.
Yum! That looks amazing. Your breakfast looks like I could eat it for dessert.
Your food always looks so good!! I really need to try that wafflewich for breakfast one day

My latest breakfast obsession is chocolate protein pancakes, but the brownie waffles look even 10X better. I’m tempted to buy a waffle iron just for that….
And that harvest grain blend mix looks awesome. Love the recipe too. If only TJ’s would come to Texas….*sigh*
I try new recipes a few times a week, and make up new things often.
I love those brownie waffles. YUM!
your workout sounds like fun! i have a hard time getting motivated to do stuff like that usually, but i could see it being really entertaining and not feeling like a workout at all!
OMG, my daughter and I laughed so much at Cardioke – Hannah walked in while I was singing at the top of my lungs “don’t you wish your girlfriend was hot like me!” I think we got an ab workout just by laughing!
It was an International food day at your house! Love it!
I buy that multi grain pilaf and we really like it.
The amount of new recipes I try really varies. Some weeks it is several new recipes and other weeks all tried and true recipes.
Your harvest grains salad looks delish! I am trying new recipes more and more now that I am not eating meat – I have to get a good repetoire of recipes!
Love the waffle sammie! I wish I had more time to try recipes. I have a ton bookmarked that I want to do.
I swear sometimes twitter is HORRIBLE for me as I, um, do not care for the sm person who TWEETS for exercise tv and it’s turned me off of exercise tv
