Rest And Repair
I am hurting. This body may not be meant for dancing. The Bollywood video did me in. I think Masala Bhangra means mess up your backa alotta.
My lower back is really stiff and strained. I haven’t had this issue in a long time. It’s not horrible, just uncomfortable and reminiscent of pain I used to feel often.
I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it on the blog, but back in 2001, I was diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease. I used to suffer greatly from it, however since I lost the weight, the pain I used to feel is pretty much non-existent. Exercise hasn’t bothered it; even running has been okay. But this dancing, jumping and gyrating has unleashed the beast! I decided to be smart and take a break from the groovin’ today.
I kinda missed it though.
I gimped down to breakfast which was waiting in the fridge. Another try at Overnight Oats. It was icky. I need to stick with hot oats; cold doesn’t do it for me!
I warmed it up and it was much better…
- 1/3 cup oats
- 1/3 cup lite coconut milk
- 1/3 cup water
- dash salt
- banana
- almond butter
- unsweetened shredded coconut
I spruced up breakfast with frothy coffee…
I broke out this guy hanging out in my cabinet…
The tool…
In action…
Coffee saves the day
I met up with my SILs, MIL and niece for lunch at America Bar & Grill…
I decided on the Fish Tacos -pan fried salmon, pico de gallo, lettuce, sriracha and avocado …
served with a mixed greens salad…
Very delicious!
When dinner time rolled around, I wasn’t extremely hungry. I opted for leftover Harvest Grains Salad with the addition of chickpeas …
and a side of carrots for some veg…
Me and my achy breaky butt are off to relax and, hopefully, repair!

Sorry you are hurting Marisa, I’ve got a couple of friends with DDD and they have some really terrible times getting around.
I’ve never been a fan of the Overnight or cold oats… I don’t know, for me, I’ve just always thought they should be hot. I guess it was an association I drew with that.
Oh no, I broke you! I hope you’re alright.

It’s not you, it’s me. This old girl can’t take too much excitement
I’m so sorry you’re hurting but I’m glad you’re resting! I hope you feel better soon!
Hey, Marisa, take care of that back! Nothing worse than pain in the back. Just rest it and take it easy. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Sorry about your back Marisa! Hope it feels better soon!
I’ll have to sign up on the blog site! That’s really cool!
Thank you for the shout-out, friend! Sorry to hear about your back – take care of yourself.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR BACK AND REST! If there is one thing I wouldn’t mess with it is your back. On a lighter note, the shredded coconut really made the picture stand out, it was the first thing I noticed. Nice pictures!
Oh no! Hope your back gets to feeling better pronto. When I started doing Turo Jam my back killed me for a couple of days. I didn’t realize I had muscles back there to get sore!
I love Healthy Living Blogs too! I love it, such a great site! I hope your back gets better soon! Those fish tacos look amazing.
I found out about Healthy living Blogs this morning- great site! Hope your back is feeling better soon. I’ve never tried fish tacos but those look good!
Sorry to hear about your back! I have DDD as well, so I feel your pain. I ended up having to have a cervical spinal fusion three years ago because it had gotten so bad. Take care of yourself!
P.S. – I prefer my oats hot, too.
Hope you feel better soon
No cold oats for me, I only eat oats occasionally and only made by me, creeps me out to order it or eat it out for some strange reason.
I can’t do cold oats either. Sorry about your back, that stinks!
Back pain is no joke. I wish you wellness and happy smiles!
Sorry about the back pain but you are smart to stop doing the video!
We all have different taste, I love overnight oats cold with fresh fruit!
I love Mexican food and those tacos look amazing. I made enchiladas last night. I am always in the mood for Mexican food.
hah. the first sentences of this post made my day. you make me smile. although i am sorry you are in pain! my mom has that same disc disease and actually it has improved since she did BFL and got into better shape. her doc said it was due to her increased muscle mass. hooray for weight lifting! i TOTALLY forgot about the harvest grains salad i bought at TJs in arizona! thanks for the reminder, i better make it.

That salad looks great!
Hope your back feels better! Take time to make sure it heals properly!
I have always wanted a milk foamer like that – I bet it would make the best hot chocolate!
Hope your back feels better soon! And I have to try coconut on my oatmeal
Thanks for the well wishes, everyone! Doing better today!
