Dancing In The New Year
Hi, everyone!!!! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I know it’s been quiet here at LFL; I’ve been having a nice time laying low and hanging out with the family!
We have pretty much been in our pj’s since Sunday! We had a big snow storm after Christmas and the weather has been downright frightful, so it’s a perfect stay inside excuse! I have been getting some exercise thanks to Just Dance for Wii that the daughters got for Christmas. Have you guys tried this game? It’s so fun and a surprisingly good workout!
And you can do it in your jammies
So, food. Yeah. Well, it hasn’t been the greatest, but it hasn’t been awful either. I’ve been about 75% on track most days, however the occasional cookie or chocolate still finds its way to my mouth! Today was much better, though. I’m pretty tired of the random eats, so I tried to plan out my meals for the day and I seem to have been able to get back to normal today.
Breakfast was a whole wheat english muffin topped with Laughing Cow Cheese and sliced turkey…
along with a fruit salad of banana, strawberries and blueberries…
Aaaah, summer. Please get here soon…
Lunch was Zucchini Bake (this one had added red peppers in it) from the freezer. FYI – it freezes really well!
Altogether with a side of spring mix for an added dose of much needed veg…
I spent the afternoon in pjs organizing some of the hundreds of recipes that I have! It’s a sickness. Truly.
I came across this recipe for Kung Pao Chicken and thought it would make a good dinner…
I had everything on hand except for snow peas, so I had to get out of pjs and leave the cave run out to get them. *squints and shades eyes* Oooowwwww, the… light….
I whipped up dinner in no time and forced the health of it on the family…
Chicken, brown rice, snow peas, peppers and crunchy peanuts! What’s not to love?!
I did not ask them that question.
Wow, can you believe there are only 2 days until the new year?! Where did 2010 go??? It was an awesome year, but I’m looking forward to some new goals this year. I have a very special one in mind, but I’ll save that for the new year post!
I’m off to re-pj and soak in the last few days of relaxing with the husband and daughters. Hope you all have a fun New Year’s Eve and I’ll see you next year!!!!
Have a great day, everyone!
What are your New Year’s Eve plans? Mine do not include pj’s unfortunately

The Homestretch
We’re in the homestretch, guys! I’m finally starting to get in the spirit!!
I was pretty sore from my Walking Cardio Shapeup workout yesterday, so I focused on some yoga moves this morning. No video, just did my own thing. It was surprisingly relaxing and flowed quite nicely! Maybe I have a future in being a yoga teacher.
For the horribly uncoordinated and severely inflexible, of course
After my moves, I went to the kitchen in search of breakfast. You know the drill… use up the leftovers!
Open-faced egg white omelet with broccoli, sausage and white cheddar….
You cannot go wrong with cheese and sausage! Yum!
Lunch was on the early side, since the daughters and I had a movie date with my Dad. I opted for another bowl of Shrimp Wonton Soup with about 8 shrimp thrown in for some staying power…
I am seriously obsessed with this soup. The flavor is so good and the wontons are really tasty…
My hunger was in check today, even with all the crunching and munching at the movie theater! Why do we need to eat while watching a movie anyway? Who started that calorie overloaded tradition?!
I know. Random.
Anywho, later in the afternoon, I ran some final errands before the big day and made a quick stop at the supermarket for a few things. While I was there, I picked up dinner – chicken for the family and this for me…
Guess I was in a Chinese mood today! I’ll be retaining a small pond tomorrow from all the sodium! Eek!
I served up a portion with a cup of brown rice ( I had a cooked stash in the freezer) and a plain ol’ salad on the side…
I liked the chicken, although it was pretty mild. I think General Tsao is supposed to be spicy, right? Oh well, it was tasty and quick!
Okay, time to wrap presents! I may not be back for a couple of days since we have lots of family holiday fun going on, so just in case, I want to wish you all a VERY Merry Christmas! Enjoy your families, the food and the time together!
Have a GREAT day, everyone!

Work It Out
I’m trying to maintain some sense of normalcy while rushing around to get everything done for Christmas! I told myself that under no circumstances would I ditch my workout this morning, so I tuned into Exercise TV and chose the Walking Cardio Shapeup with Chris Freytag. I was expecting it to be low-key like Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away The Pounds videos, but I was wrong! It’s still low-impact, however the volume was kicked up several notches with intervals of strength training throughout. In the 45 minute time frame, I worked out every part of my body – upper, lower and core. I loved it!
Nothing was very appetizing for breakfast and after rifling around the fridge, I settled on a fried egg and canadian bacon…
Hit the spot!
After getting cleaned up, I zipped in and out of stores to gather those last- minute gifts. Guess what? I’m done!!!! Hooray!!!!
Time for a celebratory lunch…
What? You don’t celebrate with tofu scrambles? It’s good! Really!
In the mix…
- 1/2 block Nasoya Lite Firm tofu
- baby bella mushrooms
- carrots
- fresh spinach
- seasonings – salt, pepper, garlic powder
- 2% cheese
Yum!
Really!
Later, I noshed on a mini bag of pretzel sandwiches…
Good thing for small bags…these things are very tasty!
Dinner was another leftover pull. I’m trying to do the fridge clean-out to make room for any food we’ll have for the holiday. Plus, it’s great to have these quick “heat and eat” meals when you’re busy!
Tonight’s score – Mac and Cheese, steamed shrimp and Gram’s Green Beans…
Best way to end the night…Kisses
Have a great day, everyone!
Do you find it hard to stick with your normal workout routine during the holidays?
