Out of Love

I have a problem.  It’s serious.  I don’t know what to do.  What I am about to say is quite alarming and may be offensive to some.  But, I just can’t hide it anymore.  Here goes…

I’ve fallen out of love….

IMG_1655

Yep, it’s true.  I’ve fallen out of love with coffee.  I’m not sure how or why.  The past few weeks, I just haven’t been feeling it.  The love, the infatuation, the euphoria brought on by the smell of brewing beans.  It’s.  all.  gone.

Should I seek counseling?  I mean, me and coffee have been together for a long time.  We’ve had our ups and downs.  I even spiced things up with a new way of brewing.  But now, well…it’s not doing it for me.  I hope we can work through it.  This is very sad…

For now, it’s just a lone glass of water and breakfast…

IMG_1640

Crockpot Steel Cut Oats with banana and a splash of milk (6 PP)…

IMG_1641

Fueled up and ready to hit the gym.  I went straight for the Arc Trainer for 40 minutes of sweatiness.  Nice!

Lunch was a simple sandwich – turkey, bacon, spinach and wasabi mustard on hearty soft white whole grain bread (8 PP)…

IMG_1642

This bread (I believe it’s Pepperidge Farms) is so worth the 6 PP for 2 slices.  It’s hearty, tasty and filling.  I’m finding that spending more PP for regular bread rather than the light versions help me with satiety.

All I needed was a side of carrots and I was good to go…

IMG_1645

Afternoon snackage – Gala and string cheese (1 PP)…

IMG_1654

Oh yeah…and this… sorta…

IMG_1655

Le sigh.

After religion class, I’m usually exhausted from trying to keep my class under control!  It’s these night, I’m thankful for planning ahead with salad kits.  Each week I make at least 2 kits to keep in the fridge;  this way I can grab them for either lunch or dinner.

Tonight’s kit was Turkey Taco Salad (8 PP)…

IMG_1656

  • Ground turkey breast cooked with taco seasonings
  • cotija cheese
  • guacamole
  • salsa
  • romaine lettuce
  • grape tomatoes

And more crunch (3 PP)…

I’m ready for snoozin’. :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Have you fallen out of love with any food or drink lately?

Aww, I hope you two work things out! ;-)
I’ll never be able to “fall out of love” with coffee – I get a terrible caffeine headache if I don’t have any!
Have a great weekend! :-D

I’ve fallen out of love for chocolate. Yes, you read right, chocolate. I used to be a be chocolate junkie and these days it just don’t taste nice anymore. Weird.

Oh no…but I so relate. Whenever I have been sick…not drinking coffee…I seem to not want to drink it…it is weird isn’t it.

I’ve been a reader of yours for awhile, and I successfully made the crockpot steel cut oats you’ve shown on your blog! They turned out really well! The question is, when you heat yours up, how do you get them to not be so clumpy? I’ve been doing the microwave reheat with a splash of skim milk, but they just aren’t creamy. Also, what is a serving size once cooked? I’ve been estimating around 3/4 to 1 cup based on the directions you’ve linked. Thanks for your help, I love the taste, just need some tweaking :)

Hi Gretchen! I usually reheat them in the container with a splash of milk and slightly covered by the lid to create some steam. It seems to help bring back the original consistency.
I’ve been getting a 1 cup serving also!

As much as I feel like scolding you for blowing off the amazing ‘bucks, I kind of get it. I have gone through such phases, especially when I am sick, just can’t do it…tea all the way. But, have faith my friend, this is a short term sabbatical from our true love.

Oh my gosh. I don’t know what I’d do if I were to fall out of love with coffee. It’s one of my true loves. I swoon for it every morning. I hope you are able to rekindle your romance soon…maybe a romantic getaway?

Oh Marisa, that is a bad falling out indeed… You’ll come around. Maybe it was the neti pot LOL!

I am out of love (if it ever actually was as far as love) with tuna.

Marisa Reply:

The neti did it! bwahahaha!

I have fallen out of love with Laughing Cow Lite ! With the coffee, for many people green tea provides the lift of coffee without the coffee problems. It worked for me for a time, but then I began to crave the smell and mouth feel of coffee again. Perhaps green tea could be the answer for you

I’ll never be able to “fall out of love” with coffee NEVER!! Yes some coffee is aweful but I make it perfect everytime. It’s so good that my husband can’t drink anyone’s but mine!

I havent had coffee since I was sick!! When the plague left me I still had no desire for coffee – havent had it in almost 2 weeks – I have, however, taken up tea!

I can’t think of anything I have fallen out of love with lately. Then again, I keep so much variety in my diet that I hardly ever have the same thing more than a few days in a row. :)

12 Andrea@WellnessNotes { 02.11.11 at 9:44 am }

I’m in the process of breaking up with coffee. Well, at least we are seeing WAY less of each other… One cup when I get up. That’s it for now (used to be WAY too many cups throughout the day…). I really hope I can stick to it and hope to break up completely one day… :)

13 Veronica { 02.11.11 at 10:17 am }

You lost your love for coffee…and I found it! Sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be returning it. I’ve never been much of a coffee drinker but when I got a cup at a diner, I drank it so fast I wondered what was going on. Why was their coffee so much more appealing to me than starbucks? I finally figured out they make it much weaker and I started using 1 T per 8 oz of water, which is what is recommended anyway but I used to make it for people that wanted practically double that so I thought it was normal, and now I can love it up. I have not fallen out of love with anything and hope not to. I would be sad too, especially something that is nearly-calorie free. Perhaps you could try some different teas so you can have something hot (or cold) to enjoy in place of it.

Oh the horror! Im not sure we can be friends anymore. lol :) I walk like a zombie to my Keurig in the morning and again in the afternoon so I can’t imagine my life without coffee. Soda is one that I never drink now, but never was without years ago- so I can understand your break-up. :)

TACO SALAD! YUM YUM YUM! :) Hope you have a good weekend! :)

I’m sorry you’re out of coffee love right now. Hopefully you’ll get it back–if you want it. I personally love coffee, but find it an annoying vice. I go to bed at night anxious to get up for my first cup of the wonderful beverage. But I get a headache if I don’t have it soon enough after waking up and that’s seriously a hard vice. So it will be nice for you if you don’t have this dependancy. :) But I’d miss my morning friend.

16 Melissa (@MelGetsFit) { 02.11.11 at 11:36 am }

What TJ said. :P My Keurig is usually my first stop each morning right after the potty. LOL As I mentioned on Facebook yesterday, I don’t want to live in a world without coffee. ;)

17 Tami { 02.11.11 at 1:52 pm }

When I don’t feel good I can’t drink coffee and go for hot tea instead.
I have fallen out of love with oatmeal! Use to have it most mornings for breakfast but I have no desire for the stuff right now.

18 Denise { 02.11.11 at 2:47 pm }

Shame about the coffee. I can’t say I’m a huge fan (very rarely have Starbucks, had my first one this year just yesterday!) but I’m just in the habit of making a pot at home each morning, I have two cups and that’s it. Hope you can find something else you like instead. Have a great weekend.

19 Biz { 02.11.11 at 3:52 pm }

I love coffee, so I don’t think that will ever happen to me – and I’ve turned my daughter into a coffee’a'holic too! I think she’s been drinking coffee since about age 12!

Have a great weekend Marisa!

You must be getting sick – how could you NOT love coffee?!? ;)

I was hooked on Kashi Golean crunch cereal as a yogurt topping for, gosh, at least a year. Switched to Fiber One to cut back on the calories, but I always pined for the Kashi. Well, my husband wanted some, so finally we had it in the house again and I tried it…and it wasn’t all that. Huh. I tried it again about a week later and it still wasn’t anything that I had to have. So weird.

21 Marisa { 02.11.11 at 7:50 pm }

You guys are too funny! Thank you for your condolences and concern. Maybe your coffee love will rub back off on me! :)

22 Roz { 02.12.11 at 12:32 am }

Hi Marisa, my condolences on the loss of your longstanding and formerly loving relationship with coffee. I hope the two of you can work things through and come to an amicable arrangement!!! :) Have a great weekend!!!

23 Alissa { 02.12.11 at 11:42 am }

Wow- unbelievable! Marisa has fallen out of love with coffee…I just can’t believe it! ;) I have been drinking much less coffee lately because I like to add flavored creamer to them and it costs points. I’ve been drinking a lot more tea. But I haven’t fallen out of love with coffee just yet! :)

24 RunToTheFinish { 02.12.11 at 2:03 pm }

you are too funny. maybe a short fling with hot tea would work?

25 fittingbackin { 02.12.11 at 3:04 pm }

ooooh your turkey taco salad looks yum! I’m sorry to hear about the demise of your relationship with coffee – sad!

26 Danica { 02.14.11 at 1:43 pm }

I totally go through phases of loving coffee or not so I get it. Try a dirty latte and I bet it helps you out :D or ummm, not, because it’s my latest addiction – obviously!

I am totally the same way about real bread – I just can’t do the diety stuff anymore – it’s just not worth it.

Your taco salad looks phenomenal – I want it.

27 Gina @ Skinnytaste { 02.15.11 at 10:24 am }

It’s probably not the worse thing to fall out of love with!
