Tea Party

Hi everyone!  Hope you’re enjoying your weekend!  I’ve been spending it surrounded by cupcakes, brownies, cookies and candy!

Saturday the daughters and I went to the annual Victorian Tea that my MIL invites us to at a local Christian school.  The event is held in the gymnasium and the volunteers do an amazing job of decorating to fancy it up!  Hard to do with a gym!

Each table is set with beautiful treasures brought in from the volunteers’ personal collections…

I loved this Victorian purse that was on our table…

Since we had a large group at our table, my MIL arrived early and placed homemade name cards to designate our seating…

IMG_3225

Doesn’t she have the best handwriting?!

The food was plentiful!  A long table filled with tea sandwiches…

And another filled with sweets…

This had “Danger” written all over it.icon_eek[1]

But, I managed to come out unharmed by only choosing what I REALLY wanted.  And what I REALLY wanted were these…

IMG_3228

Homemade peanut butter candies!  I look forward to these mini “Reese’s cups”, so I knew I could skip over the other sweets in favor of these.

A girl cannot live on peanut butter candies alone (why not?! icon_evil )!  A couple of turkey and ham finger sandwiches, two mini veggie quiches and a few strawberries rounded out the meal …

Is it wrong to have coffee at a tea party?

Eh, whatever makes you happy :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Have you ever been to an afternoon tea?  Many years ago, I took my Mom, Gram and MIL to High Tea at a beautiful hotel in Philadelphia.  So elegant and fancy!  We need to do that again!

I love this whole idea! Must keep it in the back of my mind for future. :) Everything looks wonderful, especially you, my dear. I don’t think there is anything wrong with having coffee at a tea party.

Hope you’re having a grand weekend. Beautiful day!

That looks like fun, and how sweet of the volunteers to bring in their own pieces for the table decorations – so interesting to see everything!

I’ve been to an English high tea a couple of times – really enjoyed it. You did great at this one, not succumbing to that table of temptations! :)

How sweet. I’ve never been to a tea party like that, but did go to a Tea House with a group of girls in the 8th grade, for a school outing.

You look beautiful in that pic.

Nice job sticking to your plan of attack. That sweets table looked very dangerous…

I spent three years living in England as a young girl and every Sunday my Nana would do high tea. It was so much fun and there was so much delicious food. All my cousins and aunts and uncles would come all dressed up from church and sit around the fire – no matter what the weather or time of year – and sip tea and eat scones and cream and sponge cake and blancmange.

I occasionally do high tea for my boys and they love it.

When I saw “Tea Party,” I thought this was gonna be post about how Obama hates America. But this is worse… brownies and cakes and cookies…. some of us are on a diet, ya’ know!

There’s a little restaurant out here called the Tea Hive, and I go there with some local girlfriends every once in a while. So much fun – I love to have all the little bites of things!

Scones and cream?

How fun it that? Yes actually I helped put on a fancy tea for a Mother – Daughter event at our church. I collect tea pots and tea cups so I had plenty to donate for the day! It was so much fun. We made some of the food and had some catered.

I also like to go to local tea rooms with my daughter or girlfriends for a fun girly day out!
