Detoxification
I’m feeling much more in control of my eating today. Funny how a few days “on the wild side” really take a toll and how much I dislike the aftermath. I feel weighted down (freudian slip
) and much less energetic.
Time for detoxing! In the form of good food and exercise, of course!
I started with an egg sandwich for breakfast …
Ezekiel english muffin, 1/4 cup egg whites and 2% cheese (6 PP)– love these!
My stomach wasn’t up for coffee this morning, so I went straight to weight lifting instead…
| BODY PART | EXERCISE | SETS/WEIGHT/REPS |
| Chest | Incline Press | 3/ 10#/ 12 |
| Back | Bent Over One Arm Rows | 3/ 10#/ 12 |
| Shoulders | Shoulder Press | 3/ 10#/12 |
| Legs | Sumo Squat | 3/ 15#/ 12 |
| Biceps | Hammer Curls | 3/ 10#/ 12 |
| Triceps | Kickbacks | 3/ 10#/ 12 |
| Abs | Crunches | 3/ 0#/ 25 |
After lifting, I hopped on the treadmill for a quick 15 minute run. My legs felt good for this mini recovery run from Saturday’s 5k!
I started dreaming about lunch halfway through the morning, so I ate on the early side. I made a Caprese Salad – 1 tomato, 2 oz. part skim mozzarella, fresh basil, salt, pepper, sprinkle of garlic, 1 tsp. olive oil and splash of vinegar (5 PP) …
And paired it with a grilled chicken breast (3 PP) and crusty garlicky bread (3 PP) …
A great way to make garlic bread without all the butter or oil that it’s often made with is to lightly rub a fresh clove of garlic over the warm toasted bread …
No vampire will ever come near you .
I’m working on getting little daughter to eat more fruits and veggies. She’s has a huge sweet tooth and loves her desserts! In an effort to steer her toward a healthier afternoon snack, I made a big bowl of chopped fruits for us to share…
She loved it and so did I!
Dinner was leftover Multi-Grain Quinoa Salad (est. 9 PP)from lunch with Mom and sauteed kale with olive oil, garlic and splash of good balsamic vinegar (2 PP)…
Aaaaah, my body is happy now
I think I’m ready for that coffee…
Have a great day, everyone!
What do you have an easier time getting back on track with – eating or exercise?

I definitely have an easier time getting back on track with exercise. I just have lace up my sneakers and go. With food, however, I’ll tell myself that I am going to “detox” or “eat healthier” but once the slightest bit of temptation comes along….BOOM…my little “detox” is over. I have no willpower whatsoever.
Glad you do though! Looks like a great day of eats and exercise!
Exercise. I just mostly never ever get off track with it unless I’m sick or something. But I soooo agree with you – to me a food hangover is every bit as bad as an alcohol hangover
I’m much better about getting back on track with eating than with exercise. If I take more than one consecutive rest day, getting back to working out is so tough!
Great post! I’m detoxing right now from a weekend of social activities that didn’t offer many healthy options. Feels good to be back on track!
Interesting question. I probably have a tougher time with exercise when I’ve taken several days off.
I definitely have an easier time getting on track with exercise. Eating is always a struggle for me. It’s the portions more than anything.
I am loving to sauteed kale lately!
Oops I meant to say, I am loving sauteed kale lately. Don’t know how that “to” snuck in there
Exercise I think, eating is my down fall.
I am still struggling with getting my eating back on track but am planning on hitting the gym tomorrow, itchy or not! I’m craving activity. Now if I could just stop craving cake. *sigh*
I need to “detox” too and get back to healthy eating. I’ve been lax the last couple of days! I’m glad I am not alone
have a fab tuesday!
That caprese salad looks amazing.
I am also in a detoxing mood – trying to eliminate some of the excess chocolate I’ve been consuming lately…
Great ST workout! And i’m trying to decide which salad looks better – the caprese or the quiona- too hard!
I’m better with getting back on track with eating. I am more likely to want to exercise when I eat cleaner and don’t feel so heavy or weighted down, as you said. Eating better is what gives me the energy to actually get up and get moving.
Laughed out loud at the vampire comment!!! The Ezekiel muffin looks amazing. They’re SUPER expensive here, so I’ve never tried them, but soon, I think I may have to treat us and buy a pack. Have a great day Marisa!
I am much better with exercise because I never skip a day unless planned, so getting back to it is normal for me. Eating can be difficult to reel in, especially if I went on a bender LOL!
Looks & sounds like a very good day!
I have a much easier time getting back on track with exercise. It’s harder to escape the too much sugar, fat, food cycle…
I find that it’s much easier to get back to eating or exercise if I’m faithful in both of them. If I am eating right- I want to exercise to increase my efforts. If I’m exercising- I don’t want to ruin it by eating badly. So they kind of go hand in hand for me. And if I fail in the one, I’m usually failing in the other too!
This is the type of detoxing Im talking about! Good food and plenty of exercise. Im semi detoxing this week. Love the SUMO squats, did them today.
I’m a huge fan of egg sandwiches for breakfast! I need to get my hands on that ezekiel english muffin for sure.
I am very excited to get back to miami tomorrow and start clearing out the food I feel like is in my system and slowing me down!
I have a much easier time getting back on track with food. Exercise is more difficult for me, I just don’t love it! I feel great when I am done but it’s hard for me to get started. Our rainy weather isn’t helping my cause either!

It’s funny – I use the same method to get my husband to eat more fruit. I cut it up and put it in containers in the fridge and shove one in his hand on the way out the door. Works for me!
