Positive Affirmations Week
Anyone needing a little self-love? Yeah, me too! After my eating issues last week, I was feeling kinda down. I found myself bringing back those negative thoughts, beating myself up and nitpicking at my body. I knew that was a self-defeating path and I had to change it right away!
Time to kick-off …
My idea behind Positive Affirmations Week is to start and end the day with a positive affirmation about myself. It’s so easy to get caught up in the negative and we all know how that snowballs into more defeating self-talk. However, by stating a positive affirmation on a daily basis, the brain focus shifts to a more nurturing and empowering environment. We believe what we say, whether it be negative or positive, so we might as well choose the good thoughts!
For the next week, I will be saying my positive affirmation out loud to myself and also to you! Each day, I’ll end my post with my positive affirmation for the day and I hope that you all will join in and post your affirmations in the comments, on your own blogs or just say them out loud for yourselves. They don’t have to be weight loss or fitness related. They can be about anything that you need to hear for yourself or about any change that you’d like to bring about for yourself (i.e. “I love and accept myself and those around me” or “I attract only healthy relationships”).
Because I am trying to get my headspace into a better relationship with food and my body, I will most likely work on affirmations with respect to those thoughts. Again, feel free to post what you need! One word about crafting a positive affirmation for yourself: make sure that you are stating in the “present”. In doing so, you are saying something like it is already a fact! For example, you want to say “I am” or “This is” rather than “I will” or “This will be”.
So, what do you think? Will you guys join me?
My Positive Affirmation today is:
My body is healthy and whole. I listen to its messages and treat it with respect.
Have a great day, everyone!

Positive Affirmations Weeks is a great idea, Marisa! Good for you!
Love it ! I have been using some affirmations myself as I rebuild, and they are very helpful. For me , right now, the biggest obstacle is the fear of re injuring myself. It is very powerful and can prevent me from moving at all, and consequentially missing out on about 99 percent of life. When I come to something and the fear rises, I just repeat “that was then and this is now” . Our attitude about our abilities, limitations and existence is so very powerful ! If we focus on our good and potential rather than those things we wish to leave behind or erase, I think we will get where we want to be.

Saying it out loud does seem strange to do! I say it in my car before I leave the house in the morning. That way I can “say it like I mean it” without any strange looks from anyone! LOL! However, just thinking the positive thoughts/affirmations in your mind is better than letting the negative thoughts hang around in there! Try it, Renee!
My affirmation for today is: I am a wonderful person and people enjoy being with me.

You are wonderful, Kathleen!
Love this post Marisa! Rats, I just commented, but it went away somehow. Anyhow, I took an extra 10 minutes after I worked out this morning to fix my hair and put on makeup – as I was leaving the gym I looked in the mirror and thought “I look pretty today!”
Such a great positive way to start the week!

That is so awesome, Biz! You’re right…it does help start the day off on a happy note!
What a great idea. I have been feeling the blues lately with my youngest graduating from High school and all. Kinda lonely I guess. But, the motivation idea is a great positive move.

I hear ya, Lori! But, we’re stopping it NOW! No more self-sabotage talk. We deserve to be kinder to ourselves!
This is a great idea. I try to tell myself several positive things while I am in the shower every day.
