Pass On The Grass
When I first began blogging and reading blogs, I kept coming across the raves of a product called Amazing Grass. It always intrigued me and I wanted to try this wonder drink that was taking the blogiverse by storm. I finally got my chance when I won a couple giveaways!
I gave it a try after a run this day and …well…hmmmm. I wasn’t so sure about it. I reached out for some pointers and got suggestions from many an Amazing Grass lover! But, I still haven’t found the “happy, happy, joy, joy” that others have experienced
So, on this beautiful Saturday, I thought I would do a giveaway to pass on the Grass …
I decided to split up my loot to give 2 readers a chance to win…
Three packets of Amazing Meal Chocolate Infusion…
Six packets of Green Superfood Berry Drink Powder…
and four Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bars…

All Eyes On Me Just Like A Circus
I did it. I got out there and ran this morning! Lucky for me, it was a beautiful, sunny morning, so that always helps get me going.
I planned on doing 6 miles in honor of my friend, Reen who is celebrating her one year anniversary of running and set on 6 miles as a goal to commemorate it. I didn’t quite make it to 6 miles today. Sorry, Reen
Things started off okay. I did a 5 minute walking warm-up, then ran with intervals of 10:1 (10 minutes running/1 minute walking). For now, I like this interval the best. Running less than 10 minutes before a walk break doesn’t give me enough time to build up any momentum mentally. And running, for me, is all about the mental!
By my second mile, I was doing well. I was into it and my legs were feeling strong. But then, I got distracted. I was running in my lonesome hilly neighborhood (have I mentioned that hills SUCK ?) and the garbage truck pulled in. Why is this a problem, you ask? Well, besides inhaling fumes of foul garbage, I got really self-conscious running in front of the garbage collectors. They stared at me. I waved. I should have continued about my business. But, I could not help cringing at the show of ass gymnastics that I was giving them as I ran in front of the truck. Jiggling, bouncing and rolling. Maybe it was more like a 3 ring ass circus.
I know that is stupid and I shouldn’t care. *Sigh*. But, I do. I am self-conscious that way. So, it threw off my whole run and by the time they finally got out of my neighborhood, I was totally mind-screwed and didn’t want to run anymore. I ended up making it to 5 miles though, so I was only a mile short, Reen!
When I got in from my run, I felt a little hungry but didn’t want to really eat. My appetite wasn’t there. I thought it was the perfect time to try some of the Amazing Grass that I won a while back.
I always go for the chocolate…
I blended the packet with 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze, 4 gigantic strawberries and 3 drops of liquid vanilla NuStevia…
Err….it was interesting. I would not call it amazing. I wanted it to be. I have seen rave reviews in the blogosphere about it, but…I’m not feelin’ it
Any Amazing Grass lovers wanna give me some pointers?
After my less than amazing experience, I needed back-up. French press and some Puffins did the trick…
I have to admit, I was surprised at the holding power of Amazing Grass! I ended up not being hungry for 4 hours after having it along with my coffee and cereal! Hmmm…I might have to force it down try it again
When I finally got around to lunch, I wanted something quick and easy. I opted for a Boca Grilled Vegetable Burger on a Bagel Thin with cheese and hummus, along with a juicy orange…
Dinner was hard. I made a traditional Easter treat that my family and the husband’s family makes every year. My family calls it Pizza Rustica, but the husband’s family calls it Pizza Gaina. I just call it good! It is a “pie” made with a mixture of Italian meats and cheeses baked in a bread dough-type of crust. Everyone loves it!
Ready for the baking…
All done…
A vegetarian’s nightmare…
I almost cried when I served it to the family. I made an extra one for Easter. I can’t wait!
While they chowed on the pie of my dreams, I chowed on this…
and lentil soup…
I cry.
Only 3 more days…
Have a great day, everyone!

Amazing Grass Revenge
What a gorgeous day! I’m so thankful for the wonderful 50 degree weather. It was perfect for running outside, however there was too much basketball on the agenda so I took the day off.
The weather prompted my tropical breakfast – nonfat cottage cheese, fresh pineapple, sliced banana and shredded coconut…
Mmmm…can’t you hear the steel drums in the background ? I really wanted a pina colada after that
Instead, I opted for a greener drink. I finally got to try Amazing Grass, thanks to Kristin at Iowa Girl Eats and her iHerb Giveaway! I won the iHerb $50 shopping spree and I chose Amazing Grass and a few other goodies…
I chose this one for my first endeavor…
Some interesting ingredients in there! I blended it with water, 1/2 cup blueberries, half banana and some ice cubes. Then, took the plunge…
Hey Mikey, I liked it! I even passed a little that was left in the blender off on the husband. He had no idea what was in it or he would have NEVER tried it. Yes, he’s 3 years old. So, he drank it and didn’t say a word. No spitting out, no gagging, no clutching at his throat…
Me: Did you like your smoothie?
The Husband: Yeah, it was good.
Me: Really?
The Husband: Yeah….*furrows brow and looks at me squinty-eyed*… Why? What was it????
Me: Wellllllll, let me read you the ingredients…
The Husband:
He’ll thank me one day;)
After much hooting and hollering at the basketball game, I came home to a lunch repeat. The Lentil Ricotta Meatballs are quickly becoming a favorite of mine! I love the flavor and texture of these. Thanks for a great recipe, Jennifer!
I served the “meatballs” in a WW whole wheat pita with spinach and melted asiago cheese…
and rounded it out with some carrots. YUM –E
I noshed on a few tortilla chips later in the afternoon, but quickly reigned it in before any major damage was done.
Dinner was more of the same. I dug into the leftovers in the fridge and dished up another Chickpea Croquette with Pico De Gallo and guacamole served over romaine…
I sent the husband out to the store to pick up ONE THING and look what he brings back… “for the kids” … of which we only have TWO, not 10…
It’s his Amazing Grass Revenge! Kill me now :\
Have a great day, everyone!
