Beat The Heat
It seems like just yesterday we were all complaining about the cold, now it’s the heat! Temps soared to 100 degrees today and are going to 102 tomorrow! We have a wedding to go to in the evening; hope it cools down for the bride and groom!
I took no chances with an outdoor run today … down the basement to the treadmill! I went with a short 2.4 miler, sticking with 3:1 intervals on the GYMBOSS …
Breakfast was a savory/sweet combo – Ezekiel cinnamon raisin bread with egg and Laughing Cow cheese (7 PP) …
Yummers!
As much as I wanted to hole myself up in the blasting air-conditioning, I had a few errands to get out of the way. I decided to eat lunch first, so I wouldn’t be tempted to stay home if I made a pit-stop!
I fixed up hot dogs and fries, the easy way! A nuked Applegate Farms Organic Beef Hot Dog topped with jalapeno mustard in an Ezekiel bun (6 PP)…
And a new Trader Joe’s find… Skinny Fries!
These are similar to POPchips , but in stick form. I like that you get a ton of them for only 3 PP …
Not much in nutrient department, but good for those days when you just need to nosh! Which isn’t today, thankfully ![]()
I found that I was satisfied with a half serving (2 PP) …
No, I don’t have heat stroke. ![]()
Altogether with a handful of cherries …
Then, out into the burning inferno! I slogged through the errands, making it home in time for dinner. The thought of turning on the stove just seemed WRONG, so it was another “nuke and eat”!
Out of the freezer came Lentil Veggie Burgers that I topped with 1 oz. creamy goat cheese (7 PP) …
And hit up the garden for a side dish of cucumber and tomato salad with sliced lite string cheese, basil, and tossed with extra virgin olive oil and vinegar (3 PP) …
I may never use the stove again ![]()
Have a great day, everyone!
Are you a hot weather or cold weather person?

Run, Lift, Crunch
Thank you guys for your understanding comments yesterday. I know we all go through these ups and downs on this weight loss journey. We do have to just keep trying to be better every day. I do have faith that one day it will all click and I’ll have the emotional eating under control. One day! I just hope I’m not 90 years old when it happens
Exercise is one thing that keeps me from feeling all hope is lost. As long as I am sticking with my exercise routine, I know that the food part will eventually come around. I always run on Thursday, so even though I ran yesterday in honor of National Running Day, I kept to schedule.
I knocked out 2.2 miles on the treadmill using 3:1 intervals …
Then did a short weight workout since I missed that yesterday!
| BODY PART | EXERCISE | SETS/WEIGHT/REPS |
| Chest | Incline Dumbell Press | 2/ 10#/ 12 |
| Shoulders | Seated Lateral Raise | 2/ 8#/ 12 |
| Back | Bentover Row | 2/ 10#/12 |
| Biceps | Hammer Curls | 2/ 10#/ 12 |
| Triceps | Kickbacks | 2/ 10#/ 12 |
| Abs | Crunches | 2/ 0#/ 35 |
I’m losing my excitement for weights, mostly because I haven’t seen a difference yet other than feeling strong when I do them! That’s reason to stick with it, I guess!
Breakfast was a big open-faced omelet topped with spinach, mushrooms and cheese along with a Thomas’ pretzel bagel (7 PP) …
Lunch was a cravings buster. I’ve been wanting a hot dog and tons of fruit like crazy! I think staring at all the picnic eats did it to me!
I chose a healthier version – Applegate Farms Uncured Beef Hot Dog on an Ezekiel hot dog bun (6 PP)…
And a colorful bowl of freshness…
I learned something about myself during lunch today – I need CRUNCH! I seem to not be satisfied unless I get some salty crunch. Enter the chips…
These Guiltless Gourmet Mucho Nacho Chips are really great and only 3 Points per serving …
A satisfying lunch!
Dinner was easy, thanks to more picnic leftovers. I reheated Gram’s Sausage and Peppers and served it over polenta (est. 12 PP)…
Not a bad day! Now to make it through the weekend….
Have a great day, everyone!
Is there a food sensation that you look for to feel satisfied with a meal? As I noticed today, I seem to feel most satisfied when I have a “salty crunch” with my meal.

Morning With Rocky
I spent the morning with Rocky…
The dog, not the Stallion
…
I was itching to get outside, so Rocky and I went on a lovely walk at a nearby wooded trail. He had a ball sniffing and romping through the leaves. He was racing around so fast, I could barely get a picture of him in one spot!
He is the messiest dog. Proof…
Before we walked over …
After…
Way to leave a trail, Rocky. Let no leaf remain unturned…
Before our trek through the woods, I fueled up with a hearty breakfast – egg whites, leftover roasted potatoes and cheddar served on a bed of baby spinach…
I liked the fresh spinach in this mix. I normally wilt spinach when making a bowl like this, but the uncooked greens added a great texture and taste…
I went for more greens at lunch! The star was the panini, though…
Applegate Farms Roasted Turkey, cheddar and cranberry mustard on whole wheat pane bread. Practice for Thanksgiving
Alongside a big leafy salad…
Salad as a lunch side?! Unheard of! I know you all just checked to make sure you were on the right blog
Yep, LFL went side salad instead of carrots!
The afternoon was too busy for a snack, although around 4:30 p.m. I could’ve used one. I had to teach religion class, so no go. I also didn’t leave myself much food-prep time and when we got home from class, everyone was more than ready to eat!
That usually means the family gets breakfast for dinner and I get something from the pantry! Madras Lentils to the rescue!
So good topped with tzatziki sauce…
I did make time for some roasted cauliflower…
Worth the wait!
Hitting the hay early! Only 2 more days til the big day!
Have a great day, everyone!
Do you have a dog? Is he/she a big pain in the rear that makes a mess all over your house? You know my answer. There are almost as many leaves inside my house as out.
